Rare Orchids
Although for more than a century, botanical researches have been conducted in Thailand, the result of those reports has not included other majot areas of habitats for these rare orchids, such as the forests of the limestone mountains and the evergreen forests in the south. It has been believed that some orchids had been extincted, while some had been discovered for the first time in Thailand. Nowadays, these rare orchids have become lesser due to the poor developments of the forests and the unlawful process of collecting for trade these orchids.
Liparis bicolor
A rare epiphyte recently found growing on rocks by streams in evergreen forests on Khao Luang, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Flowering is in summer.

Habenaria limprichtii
A rare terrestrial orchid with an underground root-stem tuberoid,found growing in motane forests of the northern region, such as Doi Chiang Dao, Chiangmai province. The plant will bear a new shoot with white flowers in the rainy season after remaining dormant underground.
Coelogyne rochussenii
An epiphyte found growing in a big clump in montane forests of the southern region. The plant bears very long pendulous inflorescences in the rainy season.
Arundina graminifolia
A common terrestrial orchid with grass-like leaves found growing on hills or by streams in open areas. Theplant flowers all year round.
