Diary of an Africa safari to Zambia by Mr. Leslie E. Tassell
About the Author
In memoriam Mr. Leslie E. Tassell 02 Feb 1908- 19 Mar 2004 |
Mr. Tassell had been a hunter since the late 1950's, and is well known as a "Big Game Hunter". He has been on at least 12 African safari's also to India, Colorado and Alaska. His trophy room is an extensive reference source of every type of animal. Many of his trips he wrote articles that were published in Outdoor Life and Tales of the Ultimate Sportsman to name a few sources. He is also included in the 1971 published book "A Treasury of African Hunting" edited by Peter Barrett, with an acknowledgement by Kermit Roosevelt.
Mr. Tassell's trophy room is full of many treasures and memories from hunting, fishing, traveling and the friends he made along the way in his many adventures. |
He retired from his other adventure as owner and founder of Lescoa, Inc. which was sold to Meridian in the spring of 1999. He then spent his time as a community leader and philanthropist contributing to many favorite charities and projects.
Another pet project was the Caloosa Cove Resort in Islamorada, Florida USA (the Florida Keys), where during the winter months he could often be found, in the front office greeting old friends and new guests. All the trophies located in the Safari Lounge are from his collection, and if you ask one of the employees the name of an animal (they probably won't be able to tell you) they can produce a list to assist in identifying them.
Sadly, Mr. Leslie Tassell will be missed by many for his great generosity giving back to the community and the love he shared in philanthropy for all creatures on earth.
Mr. Leslie E. Tassell (02 Feb 1908 - 19 Mar 2004).
