Land
Philippines is an archipelago, or chain of islands. It consist of more than 7,000 islands and islets. The 11 largest islands account for more than 90% of total national land area. The two largest islands, Luzon and Mindanao, comprise more than 70% of the land area and contain more than 70% of the population. Luzon is the largest island in the northern part of archipelago, while Mindanao is the major island of the southern part. Between them are most of the other islands. Palawan islands are set apart to the west, across the Sulu Sea.
The archipelago includes a number of large predominantly mountainous islands as well as many tiny coral attols. The nation has the extensive coastline with good harbors, and has the longest discontinuous coastline of any nation in the world at 34,600 kilometers. There are more than 60 natural harbors and half of them are extensively used.

People
Philippines is the 14th most populous nation in the world and the third most populous in Southeast Asia after Indonesia and Vietnam. About 60% of Philippinos live in rural areas and they work in agriculture helping to produce rice, corn, sugarcane, and coconut--the country's leading crops. "Under construction"
