Accomplishments: Curt Hennig was born into the world of professional wrestling. Being the son of Larry "The Axe" Hennig probably didn't hurt too much. He played football for the University of Minnesota, until a knee injury ended his football career. Hennig began his career in 1979. In 1981 he had a short run with WWE as a "jobber". After that he went on to NWA: Pacific Northwest Wrestling. He teamed with many different partners, one being his father, and captured the Pacific Northwest Tag Team Titles. Curt then went on to sign with the AWA. While there, he teamed with Scott Hall to win the AWA World Tag Team Titles. On May 2, 1987 Curt Hennig captured the AWA World Title from Nick Bockwinkle. The result was reviewed and the title was held up. After 11 days, Curt Hennig was awarded the Championship. In May of 1988 he went back to WWE and was given the name Mr. Perfect. April 23, 1990 Mr. Perfect defeated Tito Santana in a battle royal to win his first, and at the time vacant, WWF Intercontinental Championship. The Texas Tornado (Kerry Von Erich) took the title from Perfect in August for the Intercontinental Title. Perfect earned his second Intercontienntal Tilte from the Texas Tornado in November of 1990. In 1991, he suffered a back injury while wrestling. August of 1991 is when Bret Hart took the belt from Mr. Perfect. 1992 saw Perfect working with Ric Flair and doing commentary for WWE. Shortly after he seperated from and feuded with Flair. Throughout the rest of 1992 all the way up to the summer of 1993 he continued to wrestle. He then turned to Triple H all the way to the Intercontinental Title. While training for his in-ring comeback, he had a contract dispute with WWE and headed for WCW. Debuting in 1997 for WCW, shortly after he joined the IV Horsemen just to turn his back on them and join the nWo. Also in 1997 Hennig defeated Steve McMichael for the WCW United States Championship. Losing the title later that year to DDP. He started a group called the West Texas Rednecks after the nWo ended. He and fellow member Barry Windham won WCW World Tag Titles from Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko in 1999. His contract expired in 2000. He worked the indy scene from 2000 through late 2001. He returned to the WWE in 2002 at the Royal Rumble. This was a one night deal, but he gave such an impressive performance that the WWE signed a deal with him. He was released in May of 2002 after an incident on a plane ride. Hennig then went to TNA in late 2002. He wrestled there until passing away in 2003.
