Friendships don’t grow on trees, you know!

So, this weekend saw the premiere of season four of The Tribe. I, as most of you, sat glued to my television. Holding my breath as the credits came up I anticipated being blown away. I was disappointed. Firstly, I know I’m not the only one who despises the two thirty minute episodes on the weekend. I was lucky in the fact that as I was away at the weekend so I was able to watch the episodes in one go.

Okay, so back to the episode. I watched the first episode with a stupid look on my face. The immediate question that sprung to mind as I watched was, ‘Have they all forgotten how to act?’  I know, I know. Put me in the situation and I’d shame myself under a rock. But it just seemed that nothing was the same as before. That the writers had lost all sense of direction that they were heading in the final episodes of last season. A few things that bothered me where; the fact that Pride left when he and Trudy were going to find Amber. I mean, last season saw him still “dealing” with his true feelings for Amber and yet when she was in trouble (although thought to be with Bray) he ran off as May was ‘back there too’ Also, I didn’t like the fact that there wasn’t the full cast. I mean, paging the writers, not good to start a new season without all the characters.

Okay, enough ranting. In fact, contrary to what I said before, I actually enjoyed this episode. Well, the second half anyway. Sunday’s episode seemed to retreat back to it’s roots. We got more Amber, (Beth Allen seems to be the only one who has maintained their high quality acting abilities) and I’d forgotten how much I adored B/A (Well not completely) but my heart did a pitter patter when Amber was calling out for Bray. *Sigh* Oh how I love thee! And finally “ding dong” we got back the real Pride that we’ve all grown to love. When Pride, in front of everyone, told Ebony why he didn’t like her (three reasons all to do with Amber, quelle surprise) and she replied “Is it just me or are you fixated on this woman?” I breathed a sigh of relief. Sure, I adore B/A with all my itty bitty shipper heart but I like Pride and I like Pride/Amber’s relationship. Actually, what I like is the fact that the writers focused on a real life situation in a very unrealistic setting - falling for your best friend. It happens, believe me.

Can I take this moment to say how cute Trudy/Amber’s friendship is? It’s a pleasure to see. The Tribe doesn’t have that, female friendships and it was good to see that carry on from last season.

When Trudy went outside and found Bray’s (well Amber’s ring) laying in the grass I thought I was going to start crying. It’s just, we Brambers all know how much significance that ring holds in the B/A relationship. When they were falling in love she gave it to him, when Bray thought he had lost her he put it on her grave and then when he found her again it was the ring that lead him to her. Ah, so I’m getting sappy. Cut me some slack - lol.

I don’t think that we’re going to see Bray for a while. But as depressing as that is, I think we’re just gonna have to settle for seeing a concerned Amber. My my, how the tables have turned.

Well, en total, I’m enjoying this season, Bray or no Bray, continuity or no continuity. I think that this season shouldn’t be missed and that we’re in for a pleasant journey for season four.
