Brazil - Just Tiles

This page is dedicated to the great tilework I found all over
Brazil.
Sao Luis

The historic district in Sao Luis has some of the best tilework
to be found in Brazil. Whole building facades are covered with
the stuff.

Taxis, Sao Luis

Sao Luis is rightly famous for it's tilwork. Even the taxis
have gotten in on the design motif.

Intersection, Belem

OK, so these aren't tiles, but it is a tessalation pattern.
Street intersections in downtown Belem are covered with this
design. I believe it is to indicate where gridlock fines are
enforced. Whereas American cities have a bland white grid,
Belem opted for a colorful pattern.

Buses, Belem

Buses in Belem repeat the tessalation pattern found on the streets.

Rio Metro, Copacabana Station

Rio's metro has newly expanded to Copacabana. The entrance to
the station is covered with this colorful tile.
