Tie-Ups on TV | |||||||||

We all watch enough television to know that tie-ups are fairly common on certain TV programs. But which ones? Here we have compiled a list of the most tie-up friendly TV shows, past or present, and ranked them with number 1 being the show with the most tie-ups in it that we've seen. | |||||||||
1) Walker, Texas Ranger It is no surprise to anyone who has watched Walker that the show is very very rope friendly. It averages about one tie-up for every 4 episodes, which is a rather high ratio. The tie-ups also have nice variety in victim, materials, and position of tying. WTR has spawned quite a few TieMasters, as well as the top Protieganist of all time (check our Protieganist Rankings page to find out who it is). Not only are they plentiful in WTR, but the tie-ups are also usually very very hilarious based on methods of tying and circumstance, along with choice of victim. Take our word for it; this show has a wealth of tie-ups in it, and this has earned it the #1 ranking. 2) The Simpsons Don't get us wrong, The Simpsons has many many episodes that are absent of tie-ups. But on the flip side, it also has many many episodes that have some solid tie-ups in them. With as many episodes of this cartoon as there have been over the years, it comes as little surprise that it would win the #2 spot in our rankings. This show spawns one TieMaster and a couple of Protieganists (again, see our appropriate rankings to find out who they are). The tie-ups in The Simpsons are usually rope-heavy, which is a good thing. After all, to be a true TieMaster, you have to use rope in the majority of your tie-ups (to see the TieMaster Qualifications list, visit our TieMaster Rankings page). While some may argue that it isn't fair to have a cartoon show matched up against real sitcoms/shows in terms of tie-ups, we believe this isn't an issue, and this contributes to The Simpsons earning the #2 Tie-Up Friendly TV show spot. 3) Family Guy Coming up in 3rd place is one of the currently most watched TV shows, Family Guy. It takes this spot mainly because it spawns the Ulitimate, All-Time TieMaster (if you watch the show, you should be able to venture a guess at who that is). The tie-ups in Family Guy are very funny to watch, and are all well-executed. Every member of the family has been tied up at one point, except for one (take a guess at who that might be). Some tie-ups in the show seem tacked on, but that contributes to making it a great tie-up show: the fact that the writers wrote in tie-ups when they weren't really necessary at all. Family Guy deserves the #3 spot easily. 4) Married...With Children An absolutely hilarious sitcom which also happens to be very tie-up heavy. The show spawns one TieMaster and Protieganist apiece. Unfortunately, none of the tie ups in the show are ever really shown happening, but they are rather hilarious if we say so ourselves. Although rope is the most commonly used tying material in the show, many other unique ones are also introduced, such as garland and chains. A couple of different gags are also implemented throughout. The show averages about one tie-up per 9 episodes, which isn't too shabby. For all these reasons, MWC takes #4. 5) American Dad Although it has only been on a few years thus far, American Dad comes on strong with the tie-ups. We can't rank it higher at this time simply because it hasn't been on long enough to rack up a large number of tie-ups. Please note that we predict the show to climb in the rankings throughout the course of its air time. The unique thing about American Dad is that it fails to introduce any TieMasters or Protieganists, but still manages to have a large number of tie-ups throughout. Rope seems to be the material of choice here thus far. Definitely keep an eye out for many more tie-ups to come on this show. 6) Daytime Soaps There are too many Daytime Soaps to list each of them by ranking individually, so we here at TieMasters R' Us have decided to throw them all together in one big category. The tie-ups in soap operas tend to be absolutely rediculous. They have spawned a few different TieMasters, but since we don't watch soaps too often, we don't know the TieMasters' names, and therefore can't rank them. I do recall seeing one part of a soap where one guy had 5 different people (3 women, 2 men) all tied in his basement. If only I knew his name, he would probably make it as the All-Time TieMaster. Another clip that comes to mind (I actually saw it on YouTube) was where a guy managed to tie a man up and hang him in the closet by "rigging up a pulley system". Too bad I don't know his name, or he would make it into our TieMaster rankings. These are the "absolutely rediculous" tie-ups I was referring to, and once you read our How To Tie Someone Up page, you will understand why. Regardless, Daytime Soaps definitely tend to have a larger number of tie-ups in them than they need, thus ranking them #6. 7) TaleSpin This old cartoon is definitely not shy with the tie-ups. It seems they almost go out of their way to show rope in this show, whether it is used to tie someone up, hold up a suspended platform, or anything else. The rope is almost always Brown Rope. The show introduces one TieMaster, but no Protieganists to our knowledge. The tie-up positions are what really make them great. I remember seeing one episode where the TieMaster managed to tie someone hanging from a tree, with their hands tied behind their back. Now that is skill there! Although I have trouble seeing the show much anymore, I'm sure there are plenty more great tie-ups to be seen for all. 8) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Another old cartoon, another tie-friendly show. The tie-ups are well distributed throughout the victim list in TNMT. The show yields one Protieganist, but no distinct TieMaster. The tie-ups here are usually strictly with rope, which is a positive note. Positions of tyings are usually pretty simple, but effective. There isn't really much else to say about them except that they are definitely seen in this show somewhat often. |
