I have been a fan of dance music since the age of 9 when I first heard the likes of 2 Unlimited in 1993. Yes, Cheesy I know! but it really got me into this style of music.
Eventually through the years I found different areas of dance music, by listening to various commercial dance artists and then in 1997 I grew to like artists such as the Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Air, Orbital and Leftfield.

Then came 1998 with the beginning of trance and I was given Ministry of Sound - The Annual IV for christmas by my parents. The one track that really blew me away and caught my attention was Ayla - Ayla (DJ Taucher remix). This I suppose is the track that introduced me to trance
.

1999 was probably the best year I've experienced (so far) as I had many great times
(not forgetting Man United winning the treble!).
This of course was also known as "The Year of Trance"
So many amazing tunes came through such as Lange - I Believe, X-Cabs - Neuro 99, Space Brothers - Heaven Will Come (Lange remix), Ron Hagen & Pascal M - Forever and many many more.
In my town, there was a pirate radio station by the name of
Groove FM and they played many trance tunes that attratced me more to the scene.
This also helped gain my knowledge on not just trance music but house as well.
2000 came and the trance scene went deeper. I borrowed Trance Nation 3 by Ministry of Sound from a friend and I really liked CD2.
This gave me a taste of the progressive side of dance music when I heard Sasha - Belfunk, Kamaya Painters - Cryptomnesia, Oliver Lieb - Subraumstimulation (Sander Kleinenberg remix)

...and then later in the year, when I was getting ready to go out to see France v England, I hear on Groove FM the dj say "look out for this, Its a massive hit already this is Delerium - Silence" and it was a magical tune. It stuck in my head all night and I spent ages trying to find out who did the remix.
A friend told me it was "DJ Tiesto" and I recognised his name from his work with Ferry Corsten in Gouryella.
I know that sounds very memorable, but it was. I heard the greatest tune ever that night!

So that was really the first tune that got me interested in his style. After that I heard his remix of Sarah McClachlan - Sweet Surrender, and I decided to go and buy Magik 6 - Live in Amsterdam after that!
Ever since then, every remix/production from him that I've heard has blown me away...
