Vivencias monumentales 24/2/1
Rain threatens the little crowd
standing on the esplanade at CECUTchildren run through puddles
the poet writes nothing
a raindrop wets his notebookumbrellas appear amid the public
waiting for their spectaclethen it begins
giant woman face blooms
around omnimax domemouth, nose, lips, speak
projected from small white tent
of silent switches and glowing lightsshe says her girlfriend was
raped and beaten by the policespent months in a coma
gringos rent earphones in English
for ten dollars and their photo-I.D.to hear the great round wall
a tear streaks her huge cheek
gleaming in the rainy nightthe boyfriend beaten much worse
never recovered his witsbeyond the paseo and McDonald's
This deceptively simple poem was deliberately constructed in a verse line number pattern of 2-1-2-2-1-2-1-2-2-1-2-1-2-2-1. It was based on notes scribbled on the 24th of February 2001 while observing in the drizzle the InSITE project you may review at http://web.mit.edu/idg/cecut.html thank you....
