BACKGROUND: Gold Ghosts are among the numerous spectral creations of Vincent Van Gore, the undead artist who brings ghost paintings to life. They like the dark, and refuse to come out in the light.
These brightly coloured ghosts are fairly easy to trap with the proper ghost hunting equipment, and they are not too quick or smart. They are possibly the most common type of ghost that Van Gore paints, so the haunted mansion he inhabits is almost overflowing with them.
BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern: Gold Ghosts materialize out of nowhere and then slowly sneak up behind their prey. They will pause for a moment to wind up for a punch to their victim. After a successful punch, they will disappear for a little while.
Basic Fighting Strategies: Because they are so slow, Gold Ghosts are fairly easy to surprise, and you can often capture several of them in the Poltergust 3000's powerful suction at once. You can allow them to sneak up behind or next to Luigi, and then swing around to catch them with the flashlight, or you can just turn it off until they get close and then hit them with it. I prefer to turn around, personally.
Advanced Strategies: An important tip for catching all ghosts is to rapidly and repeatedly press in the opposite direction that the ghost is moving using both the control stick and the yellow c-stick while you're sucking it up with the Poltergust. This makes ghost catching go much faster.
To catch several at once, try moving to a far corner of the room, so that they will get close to one another as they come after you. Then spin around and hit as many with the flashlight as possible. You can easily catch two or three ghosts this way, and I've caught up to five! If they all start moving in different directions, try spinning both sticks in 360 degree circles to keep them in check.
