We've done this one quite a few times now - this is a Games Workshop figure of Gamling, the Royal Standard Bearer of Rohan, from the GW Lord of the Rings / the Two Towers range. The figures have been painted either by both of us or by Hester. We use layering for the horse, Gamling's cloak and the banner. All the armour is painted black and then dry brushed in chain mail, after which the detail is picked out in gold. The horse on the banner has been painted on freehand (as you can tell!) so there is quite a lot of variation in it. We like to vary the colour scheme a little so they're all one-offs.
