Kamil is your basic generic warrior -- I think he's boring, I never use him.  He gets some average techniques and of course can use most of the weapons and armor.

The healer.  This guy has a healing technique late in the game that ROCKS.  It's called Elixer and for 120 mp, it completely refills the target characters hp AND MP, and he can use it ON HIMSELF.  This is definitely the guy I take with me to get the last rune.

Incidentally, believe it or not Valsu CAN be the apprentice who holes up in Patrof castle with the star rune.  So I keep him with me through the Melenam cave all the way till I find out who's taken over Patrof.

Olvan thinks the runes will make him young again.  Only one of a steaming heap of lies Gorsia must have told these guys.

Anyway, his techniques are useless and he's kind of slow but not really noticably.  However, once he gets some higher weapons, his attack power is tremendous.

Olvan's the only one who can go in Grime Tower through the front door.  I've never done it myself (I've worked my way through the game more times than I can count already and I've got other things to do)

A lot of people think Wilme's related to the flames in the northern part of the main continent.  Maybe he came as part of an invasion force?

Well, Wilme's like Lux in that he doesn't use weapons and doesn't need them.  (I've heard he can use a sword the "sword" enemies on the ice continent drop -- maybe I'll check on that)

He's supposed to be the fastest character but I don't notice it, and his techniques are useless like Olvan's.  His goal in finding the runes seems to be to prove something. (more so than the others)

Okay, here's the deal with Lejes:  He is NOT a demon.  I think he's a native Ticonderan whose race lives underground or something. (you notice the resemblance with the "demons" in the first area, don't you? -- native monkeys, maybe?  ...okay, kiiller monkeys)

He is however, greedy ("evil", whatever)  His goal with the runes is to take over the world or something.  However he's not the one in Patrof as often as you'd think.  I guess he wants to make sure he gets ALL the runes before trying to take over.

Anyway, his defense is supposed to be pretty bad (same armors as Esuna/Valsu) but he uses some fairly good weapons and has good techniques. (offensive mostly, but I like his barriers)  In my experience, he's almost as fast if not faster than Wilme . . . in my experience.

And I think Valsu actually has agreed to travel with him at times. (I don't remember for sure)  Additionally I've heard that if he's your companion, he might turn traitor and take your runes. This has never happened to me, but I usually have Valsu as a companion so I can't be sure.

Lux is probably my favorite character.  5000 years old and upgradable parts.  That's cool.

I think his offense and defense are the best of anyone.  Doesn't get many techniques, but they suit him. (he should get them like Wren in Phantasy Star IV -- installing parts)  He (it) doesn't get weapons or armor until LATE in the game, but he doesn't care and neither should you.

His goal in looking for the runes doesn't seem to be the runes.  He seems to hope that on the journey itself he'll find out who made the tetujins.  ...He got THAT wish.  Lux seems to be perfectly content to accompany anyone.  No surprise there, but he'll even join you if he's the one with the sky rune from Luze.

He and Esuna seem to be the only ones who never hole up in Patrof castle.  If anyone knows differently, email me and I'll correct this.

Is it just me, or are her legs too short in the game?  Oh well, she's my other favorite character, she's cool.  There's just something about a girl singlehandedly vanquishing hordes and hordes of . . . whatever all those things are. (I really liked Phantasy Star)  She did seem to want just a few more gulps at that bar in the intro, though.

Well, as a character, she's fast, has the strongest techniques, and doesn't have to pay for passage on the airship because the owner likes pretty girls. (Lux has to pay and some of the others have to sneak on)  Of course, her attack and defense are pretty bad. (unless you check out the cheats section...)

She seems to be the kind of person who's going after the runes because "it sounded like fun."  ...or is it me?

From what I can tell, she and Lux are the only ones who don't take over Patrof.  I find that very relevant.
