Scouting: Very steady defenseman who show's a lot of smarts and patience in the defensive zone as well as good skills in the offensive zone. Coburn is a very good skater, has a long stride and good forward mobility, and can also skate well laterally and in reverse. Can pinch in nicely and does it at the right times highlighting his hockey sense. Makes a nice first pass out of the zone, sees the ice real well, also makes good passes from the point. Can handle the puck well and is very hard to knock off it. Always makes the smart plays defensively, Is fairly physical but you wish he would punish people more with his hits. At least in my views of him he made me come away feeling like this. Others have said hes dominating physically. Has a long reach and is very smart with his stick, keeping it in the passing lanes, picking off passes. Always keeps a good position on people, shows his patience by not panicking or running around. |
