"A New Way To Solve Cubics Using A Linear Fractional Transformation" by Titus Piezas III ABSTRACT: We provide a new method to solve the general cubic equation by using a linear fractional transformation. This transformation, sometimes referred to as a Mobius transformation, can transform the general cubic into the binomial form, though in a manner different from the traditional Tschirnhausen transformation that can also transform the cubic into the binomial form. The resulting binomial is then simply solved by the extraction of a cube root. Mathematics Subject Classifaction. Primary: 12E12. |
