Cute Paper Frames.

Six Frames Project

Here are six templates for original Picture Paper Frames.
The idea came from and original wooden circular frame.   First I tried reproducing the original wooden frame.   That was quite straightforward: it is the circular frame shown here.   However I then tried to experiment with other possible shapes.   I made a multiple ridge circular frame, not reproduced here, but easy to draw, on the same lines as the circular frame but with more concentric circles.    I did eventually see this frame later, proposed in an old crafts book.   All the other shapes are strictly my own, and I have never seen the likes in any Crafts Book yet.   Next I tried the square frame.   That too proved quite simple.   The square frame with the rounded corners is quite similar.   Of course you can draw your own rectangular (oblong) shape.   Next came the oval, somewhat more difficult to arrive at.   The 'rose' and the 'heart' are the most difficult.

I will not go into detail on how to draw these templates, but I will say this:   they all start from the principle of a circle with a fourth part missing, as is obvious with the circular frame.

The way to go about it is as follows.   Cut along the outside lines.   The 'tongues' allow you to be able to fix a 'back' later on, as it is quite difficult to fix this to the inside egdes of the frame itself.   The Inside section can be saved and trimmed to serve as 'back support', as it has the general shape of the frame itself, and is slightly larger than the area enclosed once the frame is glued ready.   Next you crease along the central line and fold it, using your finger nail or some other blunt edge to help you in folding it.   Finally glue the two ends together: one end has an extension flap for this purpose.
