The next version of
UNDERTOW
included Rich Monforton on Bass. Derrick met Rich through Gord (drummer for Classic Country). Rich performs with the
Classic Country Band but even still, he fills in every now and then when needed
( at gigs that are five piece and Ricky gets to 'play with his toys' ) .
Versions of UNDERTOW
HOME
When Jerry Laird moved to PEI the guys in Undertow and Derrick searched frantically for a replacement . Troy knew Tom ( Jackson ) Carter (stripes etc.) and Rob Balint (the hitmen) and persuaded them to play country music with UNDERTOW, even though country wasn't their 'thing' , as a result the band sounded a bit rocky but 'in a good way'. They performed for a while , decided to add female vocals (Lori Ann Laframboise) that turned out to be the beginning of the end of this version of UNDERTOW.
A long lost picture of the first incarnation of
UNDERTOW.
With Derrick, Rick, Troy and Jerry Laird (on bass of Border City Band, Mojo Dirt dogs etc.) at a Fundraiser for Scouts Canada at the Ciociaro Club.
Rich introduced the guys to his cousin Marcel Monforton (guitarist of Southbound etc.) and he performed with the guys for a few gigs before his bill paying 9 to 5 job demands were too much and he had to walk away from the Undertow band.
Brad Ouellette joined the band and performed with Derrick and the boys until the pace (among other things) of the jamming schedule started to take away from his family and Brad had to decide to quit the band.
During the same time other people came and went : Annette            of Rustics etc. filled in for a few gigs on Bass , as well as Dancing Denny               of JT Justice. But it wasn't until Brad Ouellette ( of Lynne and the Rebels ) did the band have a full time committed Bass Player , loyal to UNDERTOW.
