APRIL 2000
RAILFAN PICS

I did not have the chance to spend a whole day railfaning during April but I did make a few stops and snapped some interesting shots that I thought I would include on this page. Enjoy the photos.

One day in late April or early May LMEBA, the Memphis to Batesville MS. local had this freshly painted Grand Trunk GP38 #5815 in the Canadian National paint scheme on the lead.  The train is traveling south through Horn Lake Mississippi.

One day near the end of April I had a chance to spend a couple of hours on ICs Yazoo District.  I saw two trains, one was this northbound grain train at Lake Cormorant MS. lead by IC 6114.

The other train was this northbound manifest on the curve at Walls MS. lead by IC 3129.

On a Sunday in April I found this group of Memphis railfans set up along the tracks about 200 yards from IC Xing. The railfans meet here every Sunday and other railfans are encouraged to stop by and swap stories and info.

While there this St.Louis bound NS freight behind an ex-Conrail SD50 came through.  The NS uses trackage rights over BNs River Sub into St.Louis Missouri.

Late in the afternoon on Friday May 5th a northbound grain train behind three UP SD90s and a GM testcar came north through Horn Lake Mississippi on the Grenada District.

The designers of the SD90 were apparently aboard the test car.

The locomotives are under warranty from GM and the company is trying to work a few of the bugs out. The engines are on their way back to VMV in Paducah Kentucky.

The rest of the train passes by behind my house in Horn Lake MS. after a heavy downpour.
