RAILFAN REPORT

I decided to go over to Illinois Centrals Yazoo District this morning to catch the City of New Orleans and whatever freights I might see.  Action was very busy the few hours I was there. This is what I saw. Enjoy the photos!

7:05AM: Walls MS. First train of the day was this southbound manifest behind IC6139 & IC6114. I guess my favorite curve is not the best for early morning sun for southbounds in May.

When the train was about half way by, the dispatcher must have changed his mind because the train then backed all the way back to Lakeview MS. to let the City of New Orleans out in front of him.

7:45AM: Walls MS.  I moved down the tracks a bit to catch the southbound City of New Orleans as it flew through Walls Mississippi.

7:55AM:  Walls MS.  IC6139 & IC6114 bring the southbound manifest back through Walls MS. on their way south.

8:50AM:  Walls MS.  A northbound manifest behind IC6014, IC6251, and a Santa Fe warbonnet rolls through the curve at Walls MS.(milepost 15.9)

I swear when I took the picture I did not see the Santa Fe unit.  I was really confused when I got the print back from the lab.  I wonder what I was looking at? (No I'm not crazy)

9:10AM:  Walls MS.  Next was a southbound CRDX grain train behind two SD70s; IC1036 & IC1001.

9:45AM:  Walls MS.  Then came I01-13 the southbound intermodal train with IC3108, IC3107, & IC3140.

9:55AM:  Walls MS.  Next came the surprise of the day when I saw that this southbound manifest had one of the CN painted IC SD40-3s #6261 on the point. The rest of the power was IC6115, GTW5823, & IC9631. Since this was the first of the CN painted IC units I had seen I decided to chase it south.

10:05AM: Lake Cormorant MS.  When I arrived at Lake Cormorant I was surprised to see IO1 stopped at the signal.  I then realized that I04-13, a northbound intermodal had just gone into the siding for I01 and the southbound manifest.

10:10AM:  Lake Cormorant MS.  Then came CNIC 6261 with the southbound manifest.

I actually could have gone a while without seeing one of these units but at the same time I was excited to get my first pics of one of them.

10:25AM:  Lakeview MS.  In order to grab a shot of I04-13 I had to book it back up to Lakeview MS. before I could get far enough in front of her. Power for the train was IC3126 & IC1025. Not bad for a few hours on the Yazoo.
