Loopholes
(hear
it..)
The beat and guitar
kicks the song of with a lighter feel than the earlier song. Andrew's voice
is mellow and soft. Half sung and half-talked. Real cool sounding.
"I discovered it was just a position... ??? as big as a cathedral and when
I went out my shoulders caved in..." The chorus is wild. Everything becomes
louder. The music and Andrew's voice is in that sonic state from the previous
song. Though the chorus is kind of hard to understand. The lyrics before
the last chorus is sung are my favorite: "Everything goes round in circles.
Most things are best left unsaid. Run a six-inch nail through my hand (head),
swells up like a beach ball". The chorus comes in again and there's something
about "tunnel vision", "fireworks", "acrobatic mind bend".... "i discovered
it was just a position".... Once that is sung real loud, it's repeated
in his mellow voice... This is a cool but weird song.... wonderful!

Let's
Make Some Plans (hear
it..)
Perfect pop!!!
I remember this video, which is like the stills in the album cover. While
singing, Andrew drinks from a cup. The film clips were edited in a strange
way. Wonderful! The chords of the guitar sets an atmosphere of pop
bliss while the lyrics bring a melancholic reality to the song. There's
plenty of room in this song for the brilliant guitar work. It's a Close
Lobsters pop classic! The Wedding Present's version is complete garbage
compared to this!!! The mid tempo beat and lyrics make it a perfect 80's
song but the natural instruments make it timeless. The lyrics get especially
weird when he sings, "Ten million good reasons against, the mountain, the
light bulb and the lake"... huh??? The song just gets better as it
plays on and the song just gets better as time goes on. The jangle and
strum of the guitars are completely perfect... it's almost too tight, too
perfect but still somehow, a little loose, and laid-back... no other band
could do this! Andrew sings a "whooh!" and the tempo becomes faster
and the ending is coming. When Andrew says,"Let's make some plans" a couple
of times, real fast at the end, the cherry is placed on the cake of the
song. The jangle is faster, the singing is faster.... It's a perfect pop
song! A Close Lobsters classic masterpiece!
Getting there may
be times three maybe not
To loosen your lips

To loosen your hole

(Ah, wa-oh, wa-oh,

Tens million good

To loosen your lips
cuz you're talking rubbish
To loosen your hole

woooh!!!

From
This Day On (hear
it..)
This is one of
my favorite songs too! The guitars jangle in with precision and so does
the drums. Everything is perfect. "From this day on, expect a haunting,
(New Europe?) will be gone, from this day on" Andrew's voice in this song
is amazing! It's mellow but it still stretches out far. "You think everything's
up for grabs.... Get me home!" The song gets better towards the bridge
when it's just the pounding bass drum and the hypnotic bass line. Everything
comes together perfectly. It's another pop masterpiece. Most of the people
I know who like the Close Lobsters like this song the best. "Get me home....
get off me." I like the sentiments of it. Saying starting from this moment,
this day, something will happen, something will change...Today's the first
day of... the rest of time.. This is a Close Lobsters classic masterpiece!
From this day on
From this day on
- The crooked cross of the south will reiggn
From this day on
There never was a better man then
jack
In banana republic UK everything's up for
grabs
Get me home, get
me home
From this day on
- Totally zonked out is the norm
From this day on
From this day on
- YYou can but shares in layers of ozone/font>
From this day on
There never was a leaner time for brains
In banana republic UK its best to undercut
your friends..
Get me home, get
me home, get off me
Get me home
There was never a
better man that Jack
In (banana) republic,
you get everythings up for grabs
Get me home, get
me home, get off me
Get me home"
Skyscrapers
Over St. Miran (hear
it..)
The beat comes
in nice and slow. It has a calm atmosphere of reality, fantasy, and everything
in the middle. This is a great song but I like the version on "Headache
Rhetoric" better because of the warpin' effects. Andrew's voice is
a little drowned out here. Still, this is a wonderful pop song! "Just waiting
for the planet to reflect and (durade?) back to the moon. Just waiting
for the planet to reflect and interfere with my daydream. Will you be caught
with your pants down and move on a step or two? Will you be caught with
your pants down and get all these things done? will you be caught with
your pants down and move on a step or two? Will you be caught with your
pants down?....oooohhhooohhhh" Andrews has some weird psychedelic lyrics
in this when he talks of "towns of patterns", and "rainbow noses" . I did
not know where St. Miran was but Andrew Told me : Where's
St. Miran . Anyway, this is a wonderful trippy song. Pop masterpiece!
Creating an (unwelcome?)
question mark
Mostly over a town
of patterns.
Just waiting for
the planet to reflect and (durade?) back to the moon. Just waiting for
the planet to reflect and interfere with my daydream.
Good god it all swapped
here. The stars must have swapped positions
Creating a sense
of rearrangement
Mostly over a town
of patterns.
Just waiting for
the planet to reflect and doom ray back to the moon.
Just waiting for
the planet to reflect and interfere with my daydream.
Will you be caught
with your pants down and move on a step or two?
Will you be caught
with your pants down and get all these things done?
Will you be caught
with your pants down and move on a step or two?
Will you be caught
with your pants down?
I never listened
to a coo-coo vigour
And reaffirm what
we're following,
Is nothing but whats
at the end
Of our rainbow noses.
Violently
Pretty Face (hear
it..)
This is one of
my favorite Close Lobsters songs ever!!! It's so sad an beautiful
at the same time! The beat is slow and melancholic. Perfect pop once again.
Andrew begins with his laid-back half talked, half sung vocals: "Don't
worry, no one will know. In this mansion and I'm all alone. Can I sit with
you by the window?" The vocals get a little hard to understand but part
of the chorus goes "I'm terrified by your violently pretty face." Though
sometimes the word "pretty" sounds like "pleading". This is a short song.
I wish it was longer. I yearn for it to be longer. It's a pop Close Lobsters
classic masterpiece!
In this mansion I'm
all alone
Want to sit with
you at the window
Laugh and understand
the view
but first I've got
to find what's the quest
no no a violently
pretty face
I'm jostled and bumped
I may be slow
but I'm terrified
of your violently pretty face
And I each day I'm
sealed to the fate that I know
I'm gonna be struck
before we reach the gate
I'm jostled and bumped
and may be slow
but I'm terrified
of your violently pretty face"
