I added Toyota power steering to my truck primarily because of the price of good used stock Bronco power steering boxes. Every time I found one at a decent price (about $300) and called on it, the box was already sold or it was on the East coast and shipping costs raised the price another $50, or it needed a rebuild that would add more cost. On the EBML there were a couple guys that had already done the conversion using Toyota parts and they were very happy with the results so I gave it try. I bought all used Toyota parts from a 92 4x4 truck for a total of $200 from a private party who rolled his truck. The parts deal included the box and pitman arm, pump and brackets, hoses, reservoir, steering shaft, lower ujoint and rag joint. I know that 89 to 94 Toyota 4x4 parts will work for sure but there may be more years. Click on the links next to the pictures below to see details on how I did it. I also want to say that there are many variations to performing this swap but this is the way I did it. And lastly, like any other modifications you do on any vehicle, do so at YOUR OWN RISK. Make sure you do it right because your life and the life of others on the road, trail, etc. is in your hands. |
