This 1973 Thing was given to me by a friend at Newline Cinemas in West Hollywood, CA. It was used in a movie called 'Overnight Delivery'. I understand there were at least 3 other cars used in the filming of this movie. One of the cars was driven off a cliff and totalled. The top picture below was taken after the restoration was started. I had already begun dismantling the vehicle and if you look closely you'll see the orange shell I used to build a different Thing using the purple one as a parts donor. The purple shell was cut in half and sold for project money. On the bottom is a picture of the Thing after paint and most of the reassembly. This picture was taken at beautiful Carlsbad State Beach in Southern California. Things make perfect Beach cruisers. |
