Tomomi's latest CD cover....Well, for those that don't know Tomomi Kahala~ she is part of the Tk Family, just like Amuro and TRF. SHE USED to be T.Komuro's (Amuro's producer, song writer/composer, and he is also the guy on the right in the pix.) gf...I believe they were engaged once. She has a baby- ish voice..but she doesn't sound like that when she sings.
May news (1998): Komuro san's business negotiation with Warner Brothers is one of the reason why Tomomi transfers to Warner Music. The spokesperson for Warner Music says that they plans to release two additional CD singles by the end of the year and also one CD Album in autumn. Tomomi's 11th single Cd is released and tied in with her drama. (yes...Komura-39years old- will produce that AGAIN!)

TAKESHI KANESHIRO (my FAVORITE Taiwanese Celeb

these pictures says a thousand words about why he is my favorite...He (now in his mid 20s-dob:Oct. 11th, Blood type: O, 178 cm, 65 kg, father-Japanese, Mother-Taiwanese, can speak Japanese, Mandarine/Taiwanses, Cantonese, English and Peking-nese, hobby: Swimming, Basketball, Volleyball and golf) had stop his singing career for a couple of years now..he has been concentrating his career on Acting and he is getting a really good result from it..he did a lot of movies since he stop singing..and they are all very popular movies (the pictures are from MISTY~Japanese movie that he did one~two years ago). His movies are known all over asia~he is truely a MEGA-ASIAN star. I just got his "MADE IN HEAVEN" Photo book (it's made in 1997)~It has a Japanese Touch to it. In his new Drama: KAMISAMA mou Shugoshidake--he plays a famous composer (KEIGO) who met a high school girl who got infected by AIDS. I've seen the drama and every episode is very dramatic and the theme song is by Luna Sea-I FOR YOU. The other song is of which Takeshi is suppose to have had composed is "IN THE SKY".

UPDATE FOR DEC 1998-Trio of asian stars fail to shine-WEEKEND

  • ANNA MAGDALENA--By KIMIE ITAKURA (Asahi Evening News)
  • For young Japanese girls, three names top the list of the hottest movie stars. And while Hollywood hearthrobs Leonard DiCaprio and Brad Pitt hold their predictable place, they're joined by a shining star from Asia: Takeshi Kaneshiro. "Anna Magdalena," the debut feature by Hong Kong filmmaker Yee chung Man, portrays a delicate love triangle featuring Kaneshiro and two other Hong Kong movie idols, Kelly Chen and Aaron Kwok. Released in Hong Kong in April, the film quickly became a box-office hit, earning 153 million yen during its first two weeks. At least some of that instant success can be attributed to Kaneshiro, a boyish, 25-year-old actor with a Taiwanese father and a Japanese mother who can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and passable English (as demonstrated in "Too Tired to Die" where he starred with Mira Sorvino). He first came to the attention of Japanese audiences in Wang Kar Wai's "Chungking Express" (1994) and "Fallen Angels" (1995). His popularity exploded here after his appearance in recent Japanese TV soap opera "Kamisama Mo Sukoshidake" (roughly, "God, allow us a little more time"), which explored the love between a HIV-infected teenage girl and a top musician. In "Anna Magdalena," Kaneshiro plays a different role from the cool and stylish heroes he has portrayed on Japanese television and in the recent Japanese hit movie "Fuya-jo" ("Sleepless Town"), a hard-boiled suspense drama directed by Lee Chi Ngai from Hong Kong. In this latest film, the sought-after young star portrays a shy, commonplace piano tuner named Ka-fu Chan who happens to befriend Yao (Aaron Kwok), a philandering, self-proclaimed novelist. Chan's fascination with Yao prompts him to allow the unusual man to stay at his apartment indefinitely. The problems begin after a young woman named Mok (Kelly Chen) moves into an apartment on the floor above them. Despite her annoying insistence on repeatedly practicing Bach's "Anna Magdalena" poorly on her piano, both Chan and Yao eventually fall in love with this charming but eccentric woman. Regrettably, the film fails to make the most of two of its stars, Kaneshiro and Chen, because of the weak characterization of their roles. Only Kwok manages to find charm in his portrayal of Yao, the bragging, irresponsible, hard-to-hate vagabond. Chen's Mok suffers from a lack of any of the details or clues about her past life that might have added adult complexity to her character. Instead, she comes across as whimsical, self-centered and childish. Why, for instance, would a beginner pianist own a grand piano? And why would she obsessively insist on playing "Anna Magdalena," a somewhat difficult minuet which Bach composed for his wife's 25th birthday?-- Kaneshiro and Chen manage to recover some shine during an imaginary sequence in which Chan visualizes himself and Mok as a pair of figures in a Robin Hood drama who are coerced by a hovering ghost into carrying out a near-impossible mission to search the world for his lost love. This fantastic sequence is the best and most visually interesting part of the film, demonstrating director Chung Man's renowned talent as an award-winning production designer. The entire sequence was shot in Vietnam, the director says, to make most of its old French colonial architecture. "Anna Magdalena," in Cantonese with Japanese subtitles, opens Saturday at Marunouchi Champs Elysee Theater (03-3535-4740) in Ginza. Running time is 97 minutes.

    BIGGES NEWS for April 1998~
The 33-year-old guitarist for X-Japan, Hideto Matsumoto committed suicide (he hanged himself using a towel from his living room doorknob). At X-Japan's last concert before they disband~the lead vocal crossed his hand at the end of the concert~which symbolized "X"-Japan... EVERYONE in building did the same thing~In Tokyo Dome (I think)..a sell-out crowd, everyone stood up and crossed their hands for X-Japan. When Celebs, heard the death of Hideto, some broke-down in tears and some tried to hide the tears. Teru looked very sad on his show when he heard about Hideto's death, it influence his greatly...Everyone looked up to X-Japan as Japan's music legend. There are several incident where the some girls tried to committ Suicide after they found out about the death of Matsumoto. One Japanese Fan girl (17 years old), at an Osaka hotel, killed herself (using the exact same way as Hideto Matsumoto). One 14 year old fan is in a coma because of a suicide attempt~she tried to imitate the suicide method used by Matsumoto.. and on her wall full of Matsumoto..she wrote" I have lost my reason for living...4,000 flower-laden mourners gathered at the Gonganji Temple in Tokyo where Matsumoto's "wake" was held. One 19 year old fan was so sad that she cut her wrist with a knife in front of the temple (she was treated right away so she is okay) This X-Japan song, which touched me when I first heard it, is dedicated to Hideto: ForEverLove
