This
leader of the 7 Fukujin, as with all other Ranma characters, has his own
idiosyncrasies. An obvious one is how he almost always carries a bowl
of rice and a pair of chopsticks. Strangely, the rice in his bowl never
topples over, even underwater!!! (However, I seem to recall a scene in the movie
where they forgot to draw it in). And don't let the seemingly harmless cutlery
lower your guard, for Kirin has the ability to strike you down with his
eating utensils. In fact, he did just that to the whole Ranma cast just
after they reached his castle. They also proved to be more than a match
for Ranma's "Flaming Dried Water Chestnut Technique", until Ranma
modified it that is. Anyhow, his greatest skill was still no match against
Ranma's "Ascending Dragon Technique". Another interesting
piece of trivia is that Kirin, along with the rest of his clan, had never
eaten anything other than salted vegetables. Incidently, the secret of
the scroll was of how to prepare salted vegetables the 7 Fukujin way. Anyway, their
lack of variety came to an end when Akane came aboard their air ship. "On
no!!!" That must have been what passed through your mind, right? Well,
think again, cause' they sure thought very highly of Akane's cooking. In
the end, whether for custom, love or as gratitude (Raichi rescued the scroll from certain
doom), Kirin decided to stick it out with Raichi.
