You
can call this guy the traveller, since thats what he's been doing ever
since his father smashed up their traing hall. Genma had given his father
the manuscript for a skill that would allow him to rob people, thereby
ensuring his and his son's survival. Unfortunately, this skill depended
on brute force and the guy destroyed the training hall and killed himself
during the training process. So, Ryu has been wandering from place to place,
in search of the second half of the scroll, which when combined with the
one he knows would allow him to make his training hall the most reknowned
in Japan. (Too bad the skill on the other scroll was more powerful than
his...). Anyway, Genma had mailed this scroll to Nodoka, who asked
her to deal with it as she saw fit. What become of the scroll in the
end were home-made envelopes, which Nodoka carefully cut and and glued together from the scroll.
