“Don’t mess with Texas” These guys are from the state of former governor/
president-elect Bush
and they show that something good can come from that state too ! On this
album 5 people played their instruments, but 2 of them left the band right after
recording. They found some new members, so they’re back on the road
just-in-time to promote their first full-length, after an EP on Pluto Records. I
liked the EP, but now, with the mighty Barry Poynter as the producer, these
blessed musicians really found a style that fits them. The fact that they stay
alive in the mass of new metal-core-bands in the scene today says enough, I
think.
It’s
very technical metallic hardcore, influenced by bands like ZAO, Hatebreed,
Living Sacrifice and Overcome. Usually I’m not into this type technical
metal/hardcore-bands that much, but just like the bands I just mentioned this
band has the typical American “groove” which makes this album an
instant-like for me. It’s quite impressive
and intense stuff, but it doesn’t get too depressive, due to some
guitar-parts which are really funny and surprising. I think the future is bright
for this band when they manage to stay alive in the ever-changing world of
hardcore. I love this album, not in the last place because of the beautiful,
inspiring lyrics. It’s amazing that God still uses people like these guys to
praise Him through awesome, hard-hitting music.
