Notes for WILLIAM E. STOVEY:
It has been reported by Malvina Stovey, nee Taphorn that William E. Stovey
was born in Richmond, Va. She stated he had been married there, divorced
and had twin sons. One son was reported to have gone to either Texas or
Oklahoma. Wm. E. Stovey then came to Tennessee and married Malvina
Taphorn and left there and went to California. It has been reported that he was
injured in the San Francisco earthquake, and then went to OKlahoma to be with one of the twins. The last name of the twin is reported to be Hamilton. I am currently trying to find out more information on this line. Albert Lee Stovey, the son of Wm. E. Stovey and Malvina was then raised by his grandfather, the father of Malvina, Clements Taphorn. Malvina was born in Louisville, Ky. and died in Glenwood, AR. She was the daughter of Clement H and Louise Taphorn, nee Bush.
It had been reported that the Stovey line originally came from England. I have
found several Stovey families living in the area it was reported they came from:
Hilperton, County of Wiltshire, England. I have written them but they have not
answered. I presently trying to find a genealogist in that area who could help.
