W. E. Forman was wounded in the battle of Risaca, GA, May 15, 1876. |
Wed. Aug. 13, 1845 Edited by James H. Joiner & Co. DIED-In St. Clair, Co. Ala, on the 5th of August 1845, Mrs. Martha J. Forman, wife of David Forman,ESQ., in the 37th year of her age. | We are thus called upon to record the demise of one whose loss is much deplored by all who knew her. Mrs. Forman, was married in Chester District, S.C., Feb. the 7th, 1828, and shortly afterwards removed to St. Clair, County, in this state, where she remained until she was called by her Creator, to appear before his flaming bar. This however, she was not loth to do. For she had long been an orderly member of the Methodist Church, and her life was marked with that Christian meakness which should characterize the followers of Christ. When she was interrogated in reference to her souls salvation, which was done but a few moments before she took her final exit. She gave all her friends ample testimony that the monster, death, had been robbed of his sting and that through the merits of her Savior; Heaven and immortality was her potion, forever. Weep not then you, of her friends, who feel the pangs of dissappointed hope, and the loss of her worldly enjoyment - obey her advise, which feebly fell from her dying, and quivering lips, and endeavor to meet her in Heaven, be assured that she is not dead, but sleepth and although you have been bereft of her, so far as it regards this world - yet we are taught that the righteous shall come forth, that the Saints who may be alive, will be changed in the twinkling of an eye and caught up with them, to reign with God forever. You cannot recall her, but prepare to meet her in Glory. This you may do, - and therefore be ye comforted thereby. - Scarce had they learned to live and love, When evening came, and see their sun has set to rise in realms above. Then mourn them not, but trust in God: Where save in Him, can trust be given? He tells us in His sacred word, they sleep, to wake in Heaven. |
