Gentle Giant
With the roar of a mighty engine
and the creak of cabled gears
strong hands push and pull the levers
but the man's eyes fill with tears

As the jaws bite twisted metal
and gather crushed debris
what waits to be discovered
is what he doesn't want to see

The man's hands work their laborous task
and his eyes take care for what they clutch
the long arm gently lowers
and the teeth close with a tender touch

As a mother gazes over
her child's quiet sleep,
this giant moves with careful pace
and with each bite leaves call to weep.
