Fashion trends for Winter 2004/2005    Alexandra's Fashion section includes the latest fashion, beauty, news, articles, and more ! For the year 2000, when fashion has gone post-modern and beyond, going retro is a counterintuitive strategy-and a proven one. In Paris, Emanuel Ungaro's flouncy disco dresses would surely have got their', wearers past the bouncers at Studio 54 at its peak A more genteel side of the '70s inspired designer Michael Kors. Strutting down the New York catwalk to pulsating ABBA tunes, the models seemed to channel Palm Beach society ladies (or "Palm Bitch,' as Kors jokingly noted in the program), outfitted in Pucci-esque print ensembles (complete with matching towels wrapped around their heads), Lilly Pulitzer-style micro- mini-dresses, caftans, hot pants and all- season tans. In Kors' beau monde, that last ingredient will be the most important accessory next summer: a string of tawny-colored oufits were optimistically described in the program as being the color nude. Young and vibrant, the collection should be a big bit with the yacht-and-island crowd. But while Kors, the fashion worlds current darling, can seem to do no wrong, other designers inspired by a blast from the past were less successful. Christoph Decarnin and Aurelien Tremblay, who just took over the ready-to-wear duties for Paco Rabanne (who, incidentally, predicted that a pre-millennial doomsday would take place in Paris in August and hied himself out of town after last JULY'S couture presentation), sent out biker-chick outfits-all tight black pants, chains, studs and reflectors-to the tunes of Blondie. If women actually go out and buy these tacky togs next summer, then Rabanne will be right after all: the end is nigh. Which brings us up to the '80s, that logo-crazed decade of excess. Louis Vuitton's runway was littered with LVs. In his four seasons at Vuitton, designer Marc Jacobs has taken the famous monogram from near-invisible to near-ubiquitous. This time around, it appeared not only on the updated line of handbags, but also on skirts, coats, jackets and shoes. Jacobs' LVMH stablemate, John Galliano, tweaked the Christian Dior logo-the interconnected letters spelling out DIOR-by putting it on spurred boots, saddlebags and upside- down clothing that followed a puzzling cowgirl-meets-hip hop theme.

Alexandra Bad Girl Fashion - 70s biker style - The Dolce & Gabbana collection paid homage to the iconic fantasies of the late German photographer Helmut Newton, as epitomized in the double finalé with one group of models in mannish tuxedos, another in goddess dresses complete with fox stoles slipping from bare shoulders. A group of belles de jour ready for sin strutted down the oval runway

Boots with biker straps will feature heavily throughout 2004

Boots with a line of repeating bondage biker bar straps with buckles, eyelet lacing or a line of contrast covered buttons will adorn many legs. On the practical side flat biker boots and moon boots will be a modern version of Courrèges style boots to wear with shorter dresses.

Scooter Girls & leatherclad biker girlsTasteful, well designed patchwork leather boots that follow a pattern such as zig zags rather than random patches will allow consumers to buy boots with elements of rarer materials.

Powerful self-confident women. Fashion is determined by value and no longer by vintage. An imaginative concept look, a return to the formal but with sudden shifts in style.

Alexandras Tribut an Quentin Tarantinos Martial Arts Meisterwerk Kil Bill. This Photoset is a tribute to Quentin Tarantinos tremendous martial arts movie Kill Bill. The Volume 1 sequel is Tarantinos hommage to his favortite eastern movies out of the 70`s. Experts will know the yellow training dress from Bruce Lee`s last movie "Game Of Death (with Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and his former nunchaku trainer Danny Inosanto). If you have seen Kill Bill 1, you probably have remembered the building and surroundings in the scene when O`Ren Ishii fought against Black-Mamba-Thurman. It`s the same as in the Bruce Lee movie "The Chinese Connection" . Uma Thurman is a good aquivalent for Bruce Lee, but Alexandra is as good as well. She combines the yellow overall with modern black leather kneehigh boots with metal toe guard and 5" metal heel. V for Vinyl -

Narrow drainpipes in stretch vinyl with hints of biker fashion. Uma Thurman in the film 'Kill Bill' sets the example for the right outfit here.

Y for Youthquake -

Z for Zappy Armour -

A futuristic slant on armour - studs, metallic buttons and buckles used as archaic accessories.

the Guerriero show, openly inspired by the eighteenth century. The Neapolitan designer mixed Madame de Pompadour and ’50s rock ’n’ roll. His flirty belles in bustiers and ruffled culottes—hair coiffed in banana hairdos halfway between Roi Soleil courtesan and Grease—wore black leather combos of biker jacket and pencil skirt, pink fox bustle coats or fluttery toile de jouy dresses. Classic: mythical, exotic grains with a patina or polished effect, small grains and smooth leather, patent leather, traditional textiles: knit, corduroy, woven fabric, male draperies with a clean cut or off-beat look, padded effects.

Futuristic: nappa, very soft leather, stretch leather, patent and lacquered leather, high-performance coatings, quilted textiles, iridescent, sparkling, and reflective effects, abstract graphics, optical graphics sometimes with straight lines and sometimes blurred and distorted.

Organic: mimetic leather, recycled leather, vegetable leather, thick furs, turned skins, flesh splits, multilayer textiles, felted wool, smudged checks, flowers, stripes and embroidery with an ethnic, folkloric feel, random effects: oxygenated, re-dyed, eroded, aged, and powdered.

Provocative: mirror lacquer, patent leather, vinyl, scored leather, tight-fitting leather, nightclub sequins, gothic lettering.

Sensual: voluptuous textures, supple, delicate leathers, suede calf, kid, lamb, pearly leather, rabbit fur and Qrilag, refined textiles: satin, ribbons, velvet, net, lace, embroidery, silk, drapery, nostalgic flowers, lingerie flowers, tiny oriental motifs, upholstery patterns.

MILAN, octobre 1, 2004 – By a poignant coincidence, the news of Richard Avedon's death reached Milan just as Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were referencing the great photographer's work for their spring collection. "Avedon for the beauty, and Penn for Africa," said Gabbana, gesturing toward a collage of seventies glamazons (Iman, Kelly LeBrock, Lauren Hutton, Rosie Vela, and Brooke Shields) torn from Vogue and pinned on the wall backstage.

Sylvie, parisian Fashionsita wear a Stretch Leatherpants (Jitrois Paris), Versace high heeled thighboots and a wool jacket (Chanel Paris)Their key image must surely have been that famous photo of the naked Nastassja Kinski entwined with a snake. There was scarcely a single outfit in the entire collection that didn't involve python. It began with Naomi Campbell in a reptilian corset dress, with arms and neck full of tribal-deluxe metal jewelry simultaneously signaling Africa. That idea progressed into a vast continent of python-smothered outfits, from trenchcoats to Coco-esque jackets to jeans and evening gowns, not to mention boots, bangles, and minibags that swung from every available belt loop.

In their African theme, Dolce & Gabbana also struck on the current Milanese taste for raffia fringe and feathers (quail fluff on a blouson, exotic green plumes as a skirt, quills to create a hip-slung mini.) Along the way, they managed to work in their personal penchant for lingerie, inserting lace into denim and splicing it into the kick-pleats of a python skirt. There was the occasional signature pantsuit (now with a puff-sleeved jacket) and, of course, the usual tableau of major evening gowns for a grand finale.
