-2000:    James & Scott form Soulmine with Ray Rogers and Al Witty.  Play shitloads of show in Springfield.  Our sound was nothing like it is today.  Vocally it was more singing in the style of Sevendust.  Musically we were just playing heavy shit with low tunings.  Nothing out of the ordinary.

-2001:    James & Scott are tired of the style of music and playing in the same town all the time.  We decide to change members.  Gone are Ray and Al and are replaced with Tristen Markham on vocals who added the screaming style that we were looking for and Jason Cassidy on bass who had a jazz and metal background that created something unique and cool.  All old songs are scrapped and we started over completely.  Just days after Tristen joins we write 2 songs to be recorded for our first demo.  "Shatter the Shallow" & "Explosion of Your Inner Self".  "Shatter the Shallow" is included in a local compilation cd based out of Peoria Illinois.  That compilation was called "Localmotive Vol. 3".  That song got one of the best reviews of the cd.  Shatter was also later included in another compilation called "Heavy As Fuck Vol. 2" from the Heavycore organization that we had joined.  Again, the song was given great response.  After this time of recording Soulmine completes a full set of originals and one cover to fill a full set of material.  The cover "Eye for an Eye" is still requested by fans today.  Soulmine plays all over the state and makes our first trips to Missouri and Iowa for killer shows.

Soulmine releases our first official cd titled "Salvation Through Adrenaline" on January 5th, 2002.  More shows are played throughout the first of the year until Jason leaves to continue his college degree.  Nic Cochran of Panaphobia enters the band.  Nic comes from a pure metal/hardcore background and adds a heavier bottom end to the Soulmine sound. We perform a few shows with Nic until job related issues cause him to leave the band.  Soulmine will go without a bassist for almost a year.

Nic calls up on day and says he's coming back to Taylorville and right then he's back into the band.  Our next show would be exactly 1 year and a week since our last.  Actually it would be the exact venue as well.  Things then go full on with Nic learning the new material and refreshing on the old.  We book plenty of shows again and make our longest rode trips yet back into Missouri and Iowa.

Soulmine finally gets a chance to open for national acts.  Luck and hard work give us shows opening for national acts Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Malomar & The Black Dahlia Murder.  These shows go very well.  To end the year Soulmine makes our first trip to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin for the Heavycore Poser Roast #10.  Not long after this show Nic decides he's leaving the band.  Jason Cassidy quickly resumes his bass role in the band and will be performing as a member for the first time in over 2 years at the end of December.  After this show Soulmine will begin recording our next demo with the help of Matt Warren.

Who the hell knows what will happen......
