Topton VIP's History

The Topton VIP's were formed in 1960 by John Hospidor. They were known as the Stony Creek Maids. In 1965 the team name was changed to the Reading Girl's Softball Team and was coached by Judy Horning who played second base until taking on the coaching position. In 1969 the team changed their name to the Reading Royals and the first Fourth of July Invitational Tournament was started. In 1971 the team moved to Blandon and became know as the Blandon VIP's. At the start of 1974 season, Topton was added to the team name making it the Topton VIP's. In 1990 the team moved to it's current home location at the Lyons Fire Company Field and continues to run the Fourth of July Invitational Tournament making it the longest running invitational tournament in the United States. The VIP's have won eight state championships, four regional championships and eleven league titles. In 1993 and 2002 they placed 5th at ASA Nationals in the woman's majors category. In 1996 and 2000 the VIP's where chosen to play against the U.S. Olympic team.
