Tori's History As An Artist I have been a serious lover of art from a very young age. Even before I was in Elementary school my art creatations were vast, and of great importance to me. I started taking private art lessons at age 10, and contnued until approximately age of 20. My art instructor was a local artist, and a professor of art at a University. She was an inspiration to me, and my mentor. Evelyn Shipley, I love you so, and I will remember you always. Thank you so much for helping me fine tune my skills, and for enabling me to see the world from a more colorful perspective. I have entered numerous art shows, and I have won numerous art awards. My favorite period in art history is the Impressionist's Period, and my favorite artist of all times would have to be Claude Monet. I love his use of color, and image perception. I find his work to be awe inspiring, and simply magnificent. As an artist, I keep none of my work, but instead I donate it to various charities so that I may take what I have been given as a talent and give something back to those who really need it. God love them! |

ART FROM A CHILD'S PERSPECTIVE: <---This is a piece of my son's artwork. Amazingly enough he did this replication of Degas' work while in Elementary School. Infact, he was only in first grade when he did it. The medium is contruction paper, and crayons. By all means, parents encourage your creative children. They could be the great and well-known artists of tomorrow. |

~ The Art of Sculpture ~ I have always loved the sculptured art form. I have never partaken in this form of art, but I have always thought it would be neat to take hold of and chistle and hammer and create such fine works of art. I am a big fan of sculptured art. |
Shutter Bug Tori ~ In addition to my admiration for and hobbies in art, I also confess to being a camera fanatic. I love to take pictures of any and everything. If it is of an artistic subject matter, that is all the more better. IMy photo library is ever growing, and vast . Below are two of my award winning photographs from my personal collection. |
For all of you art lovers out there. If you ever get chance to go through a course of art history in college, I would highly recommend it! I took art history in college along with my other art course, and I LOVED IT! It was fascinating because it gave me a glimpse into why art is the way it is! And once I did that art became alive because I realized the depth of history behind it. We explored archietecture and every form of art known to man. And it made me appreciate and loved even more! Specifically, I love the Impressionist's Period in art because it was a time of coming out and a time launch new ideas. It was a time when artist really explored uncharted territory with their use of color and perception. And, in that regard, it was a revolution persay. Before that, art could be defined as being gothic and blank of expression. It was like all the artist before that time got stuck in a rut. And art was only accepted on one level and by one set of terms. Everything looked the same! Of course, there was Still some very good and interest art, yes, but nothing like it was going to be. And, nothing set any one atist apart from another, in my opinion. So, that is why I love the Impressionistic Period. I personally love to express myself through my art. I think that is how we thrive! And can you even imagine what it would be like to have cridits or people telling us that we aren't allowed to do that? And, can you imagine what the art world would be like today if none fo the great Impressionists forged ahead in spite of that? Many of out greatest artist of that period went without saling their great masterpieces just to make that very valid point. The same is true with music and literature! And, that is the true passion behind creatitive art, and why I love it so. Among the great artists of that time, I would have to say that Claude Monet is my favorite. I found his use of color and deminision absolutely fascinatinating, and his work was truely revolutionary in every regard. Of course, as were a lot of Impressionistic painters, he was shunned by the art cridits in well known Salons of France. Yet, he and some many other great impressionists kept being defiant to make a statement and declare that it was time for something new. It was a time for a change! And to that end, they succeeded. And aren't we fortunate that their persistence paid off? Because now we have art that is diverse. I know these aren't very good terms, but I almost see it as mystical and fanciful. It is something not only to be interpreted from the artist's vantage point, but something that we might look to and interpret our selves. Thanks to Claude Monet and the great artists of his time, I don't look at a sunset anymore and merely see a sunset. I don't look at sunlight dancing across water as merely sun and water. It is light, shadow, and a fantasctic display of color. IT IS ART in motion! Faces are hues of fleshtone and pink. And Chiffon is beautiful draped on a chair. Art is everwhere! I admire the Impressionist and the their relentless dedicatication to bringing art to the level that is today. And for allowing us to be able to add our own impressions; emotions and feelings to it now. Art is not longer a mere picture on a wall. It can tell a story. And we have them to thank for that. Their work are sheer masterpieces are they shall live on immortally through them!. You will find some of my favorites by Claude Monet here: |

Perhaps, my most favorite of Monet's masterpieces is the "Japanese Bridge." And, it just so happens there is an Art Gallery, here in town, that has an enormous panaromatic painting of this in their collection. It is similar to the one that is displayed in Paris, but I shows so much more. I LOVE THAT PAINITING! And, it is displayed in an indoor garden room which is very peaceful and beautiful on its own. But, this painting just sets it off! And this is what I have come to call my special place! So, that is where I go when I need grounding. Just to sort of get in touch with things in life. And, everytime, I am just awe struck. It is gorgeous, and the following images do not really even come close to doing it justice. So, if you ever get a chance to see the 19"Japanese Bridge" by Claude Monet in person, do it! IT IS BEAUTIFUL! |

I am so glad I got to share my artwork with you, and what inspired me as an artist. I have always said that I would love to teach art, and especially to children. I worked many years a Federal Childcare Giver, and that job was perhaps the most rewarding one I ever had. Oh, to see the sparkle in those tiny eyes, when they latched on to something and love it for the first time! What a gift children are! So, any way, I hope something I have written here or something that I have shared will inspire someone. Afterall, we all have a child-like spirit and our imagination can sour when that is combined with the wonderful world of art. Please come back soon and often because I hope to add another art page to this site with more of my work (and new paintings) in the furture. |
My son also did a sketch of a racing rabbit, at about 18 months of age. And it really looked like a rabbit in motion. =) |
So much to paint in this big beautiful world and so little time! |
But make the time won't you? |
