Denn ihr Debüt “Triumph Of The
Hört euch einfach “We Must Revenge”, “Black
Abstriche müssen verständlicherweise beim Sound von “Triumph Of The
King” gemacht werden, denn es handelt sich um das Debüt einer
Newcomerband, und da sind Budgets logischerweise straff kalkuliert - dafür
ist der Klang allerdings sehr gut! Metaller, was willst du mehr?

TORNADO "Triumph of The King"
Angular Records
... good on them for producing an album that is pretty decent too ...
Notable point number one is that Tornado are the first band from Yugoslavia that I've reviewed that I can think of. Point two is that their 'unique' geographical location appears to have been some sort of European metal crossroads, as there is as wide a range of styles and influences as on anything I've heard for quite some time, from out and out epic metal, to the Rainbow end of heavy metal. I won't subject you to some of the slightly more fanciful notions in the promo literature, but it's not stretching the point too far to say that the band put a progressive slant on the traditional true metal, especially in terms of the baroque and mediaeval elements they introduce.
It's well played, singer Philip Zmaher has a chameleon-like vocal ability that allows him to sound almost completely different on half a dozen tracks, and they've knocked together a more than decent bunch of songs, including an 'epic' (in more ways that one) interlude in the form of "Heavy Metal Symphony: Eternal Mystery and Epitaph" which weighs in at a whopping 19+ minutes.
In terms of imagery it's nothing too radical for the genre, but even there Tornado put that quirky quality into it by using actual heroes and personalities from Slavic history. Overall, it deserves to be heard by a wider audience, and might hopefully open the gates for other bands from that part of the world in future.

Power
Metal from Yugoslavia, not your every-day experience! TORNADO is the band from
Novi Sad, which I, like a few others before, had first found on mp3.com and who
now has released its debut "Triumph Of The King" via Angular Records
(eh, still pursuing your policy of categorically refusing co-operations with
webzines?).
Three
gentlemen share the vocal duty, the regular fronter Philip Zmaher, on one song
Lyubo Maryanovich, and three more with Zoran Shandorov, but one thing they have
in common, they all are damn good singers! But anyway…
Musically
they do not present us the usual Happy Metal, but rather a mix of traditional
Power Metal with a few slightly progressive influences, a symphonic element and
a few acoustic interludes, all of them very catchy, but never shallow, with very
gripping melodies, which you can't get out of your head anymore after the first
listen already.
The
opener "Coming Of The King", with a brilliant Lyubo Maryanovich,
presents us a super-catchy piece of heavy, fast melodic Power Metal that starts
out the album in great manner! Further highlights are the almost equally great
"Fight To Win", which convinces by its grandiose melody, the fast
"Black Swan Rider" and the equally fast "I Love Japan".
Absolutely remarkable also is the "Heavy Metal Symphony", a 19+ minute
instrumental, which for me personally is too long, very varied, but it loses
momentum in the course of time.
Altogether
a very good debut, which makes it clear that the band is together for a few
years now and has lots of experience, so don't let the label "Power
Metal" deter you, "Triumph Of The King" is absolutely worth it!

BEHIND THE VEIL WEBZINE, Greece / Hellas - REVIEW (english)
TORNADO
TRIUMPH OF THE KING
This CD is surely among the best power metal releases of this year. The metal
played by TORNADO has a character and it's very original. Their music is a
mixture of American and German - European style power metal. Here RIOT, WARLORD
meet RUNNING WILD and FALCONER meet MANOWAR without ever losing their
originality. They are also influenced by RAINBOW's hard rock. And to all of the
above add a progressive touch, just to make the whole result sound more
interesting. The singer is among the best metal voices I' ve heard. So, it would
be very good instead of buying a multi advertised power metal release that has
nothing new to offer, to search and try to find this one. I'm sure it 'll haunt
your CD player for a long time. Surely a must have album!

Tornado "Triumph of The King"
Tornado recorded a very colorful monumental piece of classic Heavy Metal with "Triumph of the kings", full of heroic stories of long gone times of war and mighty realms. The content of the CD finds itïs way into your skull easily thanks to the brazen playfullness, devoted guitar battles and classical melody creations. The epic debut proves the 5 guys from Yugoslavia as practiced and experienced musicians who care for significant trademarks such as professional, well worked-out songwriting, compository progress and bombastic arrangements rather than repeating the genre clichees over and over as it's already being done by myriads of bands. Keyboards are no problem for Tornado either and the band achieves to work out an enchanting text book atmosphere which lovers of bands like Iron Maiden, Manowar, Gamma Ray and Dio will also find a couple of pages. This great album offers variety, technical obsession and longtime fun.
