Provincial budget disappoints |
The March 23 Ontario budget has made the Liberals very proud. Another increase for people on social assistance! The Shelter Allowance will now be increased by 2 percent. For a single person with a disability on ODSP, that adds up to $8.54 a month. This new increase, for rent, will cause the Shelter Allowance to jump from $427.00 to $435.54 a month. "Housing received little attention in this budget. It is a re-announcement of old monies and promises, when what is needed is significant new investment in social housing." - Cathy Crowe |
