THE TRUE CONFESSION OF TERACHI SHINYA
by Kurara
+part 4+
A week later, Shinya was talking to Toshiya in the kitchen about all
the new things Kyo had taught him about being a sailor. Suddenly,
Toshiya's eyes widened and he ducked behind the counter, looking for
something. "I made something for you Shinya!" He stood up and had a
pillowcase with something in it. He smiled and handed it to
him. "Here."
"For me?" Shinya blushed. "Arigato!" He looked in and pulled out a
sailor's uniform. //A... uniform?// He smiled up at Toshiya. "You
made this?"
Toshiya nodde. "Hai. You like working with Kyo so much, so I
thought I'd make you an outfit. Plus, you can always remember this
trip by it..." Toshiya blushed. "And me... you're the best
passenger we've ever had... I would hate for you to forget us."
Shinya reached across and hugged Toshiya. "I can't forget you
Toshiya!" He smiled. "Demo... these are boy's clothes..."
"So? You're a boy."
Shinya froze. //How does he---//
"Don't worry. You can fool most people, but you can't fool the best
of your own kind." He pulled Shinya to a distance to look him in the
face. "You've got the voice, you've got the figure, you've got the
hair, you've got the dress, and you've got the natural feminine
beauty." Shinya blushed. "But, you have one thing that gives you
away!"
Shinya cocked his head to the side. "What?"
Toshiya leaned in close, like sharing a deep secret, and
whispered, "The walk!"
Shinya gasped. "That's all?!"
Toshiya smiled. "To the normal, or even above normal, it's not
noticable. But, to a trained eye, it's a dead giveaway."
Shinya pouted. "Did you tell anyone?"
"No, but, Kyo and Kaoru know."
"What?! How?!" //Die?//
"Kyo said he landed on you one time..." Shinya blushed, remembering
where Kyo's hand fell, "and he said a bulge was where it shouldn't
have been. Kaoru knows because he just knows. He was the first to
ever figure me out."
"Kaoru..." Shinya looked up, "Is he your koi?"
Toshiya nodded. "But he doesn't like it shown near Yoshiki. He's
very secretive and doesn't want anyone seeing us. Die helps us...
like a watchguard on this area."
//That's why he pulled me away...// "Why does he want it so
secretive?"
Toshiya's face went downcast. "I... I can't tell you..."

Shinya bit his lip and looked at Die. "Do I have to?"
Die nodded. "Just a little." Shinya gulped and shakedly lifted his
hand to Mouse-san, (who was held by Die), and petted his head for a
second before pulling back and looking up at Die. Die
smiled. "See? Now, try again." Shinya nodded and started to pet
Mouse-san more.
He smiled up at Die. "I'm not afraid to touch him!" He stated
excitedly.
Die nodded. "Do you want to hold him?"
Shinya gasped. "Hold him?"
"It isn't hard, here.." Die switched Mouse-san to one of his hands
and took Shinya's free hand in his own, lifting it up to Mouse-san
who climbed onto it. "See?" Die continued to hold onto Shinya's
hand until he noticed Shinya looking at him funny. "Nani?" Die
asked, carefully removing his hand.
Shinya smiled. "Arigato."

Kyo chatted with Shinya as he led him to the living quarters of the
sailors. He wanted to show Shinya the barracks so he could see how
sailors lived. Shinya listened as Kyo told him various stories such
as when Toshiya once mistaked Kyo as a teddy bear when he was
sleeping and how Die used to think he and Kaoru were together. When
Kyo let him in, he closed the door and turned on a small light. The
brunette was in there and ran up to Kyo, hugging him. "Hi!"
Kyo ruffled the other's hair. "Hey Lebi..." He lifted his chin and
kissed him lightly. Kyo looked into the other's eyes. "what are you
doing in here? Why aren't you working?"
Levin smiled. "I got all my chores done until the evening, so I was
taking a nap since I was so tired from last night..." He blushed.
Kyo laughed nervously. "Okay." He turned to Shinya. "Shinya, this
is my koi, Levin. Levin, this is our passenger, Shinya."
Levin smiled at Shinya. "Hi." Kyo smiled at Shinya before taking
his hand and leading himn around the room. He was pointed out all
the beds and areas. Kyo got an idea and looked into Toshiya's bag,
looking for something. Suddenly, Shinya's eyes caught on a piece of
paper within the bag. //A round robin!// He kept silent though,
trying to think of an excuse so that he could get away. "A...
anou... Kyo?"
"Ne?"
"I have to... uh.. feed Mouse-san. I just remembered..." Shinya
bowed slightly. "Gomen!" He rushed out and into Toshiya.
"Hey Shinya."
Shinya looked up to him briefly. "Gomen, I have to do something!"
He ran off to the Captain's quarters. He rapped frantically at the
door until Yoshiki opened it. He took Shinya's shoulders and starred
into his eyes.
"Shinya! You look like you've seen a ghost!" He brought Shinya in
and sat him on the couch. "Shinya.." he took the younger man's hands
in his own, "what happened?"
Shinya looked worriedly up to Yoshiki. "I saw one..." he whispered.
"Saw one what?"
"Round Robin." Yoshiki's gaze went cold. "In Toshiya's bag... I
couldn't see names, but..."
Yoshiki walked out of the room, locking Shinya in without a word.
Shinya gasped and got up, running to the window that overlooked the
deck as he saw Yoshiki sound the call for all sailors on deck. He
took in a sharp breath. //What's going to happen now?//
He watched as everyone assembled and it looked as though the sailors
were being lectured. Toshiya was called forward and he stood near
Yoshiki. Seconds later, Yoshiki's fist hurled Toshiya to the
ground. Kaoru made a move to check on Toshiya, but Yoshiki pulled
out a gun and stopped his movements, making him watch as he pulled
out a whip and went at it to Toshiya.
Tears poured out of Shinya's eyes as he couldn't take his eyes away
from the scene. Eventually, Yoshiki stopped and turned, walking back
to his quarters. Kaoru rushed to Toshiya's side and lifted him up,
taking him away. When Yoshiki came back, Shinya rushed out, looking
for anyone, but the sailors were all gone and he just rushed to his
bedroom, collapsing on the bed and sobbing.
***
He woke to rain starting and he could faintly hear talking on deck.
He wanted to see what happened to Toshiya, so he went up on deck.
What he saw was something he didn't want to.
A bundle of wrapped up bed sheets, filled heavily with what Shinya
was certain was Toshiya, was being held up by Die and Kyo as Kaoru
looked on, trying not to cry before it was tossed into the ocean in
the tradition of an on-sea funeral.
Kaoru was the first to walk back, Kyo and Levin following. Die was
the last, catching a glance at Shinya sadly before walking back to
the others.
