THE TRUE CONFESSION OF TERACHI SHINYA

"Shiiiiinya.... Shiiiiiinya...." A familiar voice sang and Shinya
blinked his eyes open to see a face smiling down at him.

"Oh, hi Toshiya." Shinya mumbled while trying to get up, but pain
shot through his whole arm from the wounds to his left shoulder and
hand. He winced and fell back onto the bed.

Toshiya smiled and petted his forehead. "You'll be fine, just rest.
I'll go tell Die you're awake."

Shinya nodded and watched as Toshiya walked out the door. "Thanks
Toshi...ya? TOSHIYA?!" Shinya's eyes widened and Toshiya turned
around to wink and blow him a kiss before running out of the quarters.

Shinya's heart beat fast. //Did I die? Oh my gosh... he said he was
going to get Die.. did Die die too?!// Shinya curled to his side,
wincing at the pain in his leg, and began to cry. He saw through his
blurry eyes Kyo sleeping on a chair, Levin curled up on the ground
and against the chair, his head in Kyo's lap and Kyo's fingers
intwined in Levin's brunette locks. //Them too? Oh no...// Shinya
cried harder.

"Shinya!" Die's voice came and Shinya looked up to see Die coming
toward his bed. Once Die reached the bed, he lifted up Shinya's
chin. "Shinya... why are you cry--"

Shinya pulled himself up to bury his face in Die's chest. "We
died... I can't believe..." He sobbed.

Die smiled softly and wrapped his arms around Shinya, bringing him
closer and resting his head on top of Shinya's. "Shin-chan... we're
alive... why would you think we're dead?"

"Because... To.. Toshi..."

"Because of me?" Toshiya grinned.

Shinya gasped and looked at Toshiya. He starred at him hesitatingly
before warily lifting his uninjured arm up to place his hand on
Toshiya's face. "But.. you died..."

Toshiya shook his head. "No... I didn't... we only made it look like
I did." Toshiya smiled. "If Yoshiki knew I was still alive, he
would've definatley killed me."

"But.. I saw you bur--"

"That was his bedding and some clothes. You never saw TOSHIYA, you
saw the bundle and assumed it was Toshiya, just as Yoshiki did."
Kaoru said, coming into view behind Toshiya.

Toshiya smiled and shyly brought his hand behind his back for Kaoru
to hold. "I wanted to tell you so badly Shinya... but Kaoru would
always tell me 'not yet not yet' and so, I'd just see you in your
sleep."

"So.. the blankets?"

"Me." Toshiya smiled. "I also took care of you alot when you were
asleep."

Shinya nodded. "Then... who killed Yoshiki?"

Toshiya sighed. "Me again. I was helping Levin on another mast when
he screamed out Kyo's name and pointed to him. I saw you as I was
going to get Kyo, since Levin really was the only one who could fix
the mast at that time."

"Arigato." Shinya said to Toshiya before turning to face Kyo. "How
are they?"

"Just fine. Kyo is really worried about you since he saw you get cut
so much."

Shinya nodded and settled back into Die's chest.

--Shinya's Journal--

August 30. 1864

It's been about two and a half weeks since Yoshiki has died. Kaoru
is now Captain and Die is first mate. Toshiya is back to his old
post as cook, and he is loving the open attention that Kaoru gives
him now that they don't have to hide anything from Yoshiki.

Everyone convinced me not to work too hard due to my wounds and Mouse-
san and I have moved back into the passenger quarters so that I'll be
warmer as I heal up. I really miss hearing the guys though, and I
usually talk to Mouse-san to fill my time.

Toshiya has forgiven me as he knows that I had just panicked. Kaoru
talks to me now, but I still think he's a bit wary of me, but Toshiya
says that's just how Kaoru is.

Levin and Kyo now spend most of thier time in the sailor's quarters
though and Toshiya says that they are rabbits... whatever that means.

My wounds were not too bad, so they are healing quite nicely,
actually, almost gone.

Oh.. my door is being knocked on.

Shinya closed the journal and stood up, opening the door. Die stood
there, clean after taking a wash. He smiled at Shinya. "Put on a
coat. The storm has cleared. The moon looks nice tonight."

Shinya nodded. "Okay." He grabbed his coat and put it on, taking
Die's arm as he led him out. Even though the storm was gone, the
chilly air remained and Shinya shivered greatly. The sky, however,
was nice, just as Die had promised it would be. "The moon is soooo
big!" Shinya clutched onto Die's arm for warmth as well as emphasis
of his statement.

Die smiled. "I knew you'd like it." He opened his jacket
up. "Here, come in."

Shinya blinked, not knowing what Die meant until Die took his wrists
and pulled his arms around Die's waist, pulling Shinya into a hug
inside of the jacket and Die wrapped it around the smaller man best
he could. "Die..."

"Shinya... have you thought of... staying?" Die whispered.

"Staying?" Shinya blinked and looked up to Die. "What do you mean?"

Die closed his eyes and hung his head down bit. "Like.. on the
ship. We're down one person... you could stay with us.. if you
wanted to."

"Stay.. I.. I can't... I have to go back to mother and father.
They... they would be so angry if I stayed on here..."

"But they wouldn't be able to do anything about it." Die opened his
eyes and looked straight into Shinya's. "You can do it if you want
to, and they can't do anything."

Shinya shook his head. "No.. I have to... I have to go home..
gomen.."

"We'll get there in about two weeks... Shinya.. please.. think about
it?" Die's eyes and voice pleaded.

Shinya sighed. "I.. I'll think about it.. but I'm pretty sure this
is the only way..."

Die held Shinya closer. "Okay..."

Die opened Shinya's door softly, quietly, and peered in to see Shinya
sound asleep. He smiled sadly before going in and sitting next to
the bed, stroking the now short hair and pulling his bangs out of his
face. "Kirei..." He whispered as his eyes trailed down to Shinya's
chest to watch his breathing, making sure it was still at a regular,
deep pace suited for sleeping.

"Shinya.. please stay with us..." Die gazed into Shinya's face and
watched as Shinya's lips parted slightly. Die's fingers fell to run
along the bottom lip softly before coming in with his own lips,
pressing them against Shinya's in a soft kiss.

He lingered there for a while before pulling back and gazing at
Shinya once again before walking out of the bedroom just as quietly
as he came in.

Saa.... well, that's all for this part.. I'm thinking maybe one or
two more parts.. depends... maybe just one kinda longer part more...
@_@
So... yeah, Toshiya's chara DID have that happen (death but not
really and came back after saving main chara in a storm that killed
the Captain)
So, now all you that cried over Toshiya can be assured that he just
got beaten really really bad and he's not really dead ^___^
Well.. time for me to take a shower and then post this...
