Notes: A relatively cheap multi-role jet aircraft, the Alpha Jet is used for anything from ground-attack to interception, escort to air superiority and patrol to close-air-support. The Alpha Jet's main drawback is its low speed, Mach 0.96 at its operational ceiling of 50,000 feet, lower than most other modern fighter jets. However, against most other aircraft, the Alpha Jet performs its role well.

The 2-space hardpoints usually carry a 500lb bomb, a 71 gallon drop tank (+1420 miles range) or a 30mm gun pod (300rnds).
Notes: Developed from the P-51 Mustang in the early 1970's, the Piper Enforcer was developed as a COIN aircraft. Though the aircraft passed all tests, the USAF declined to purchase the plane in the 1970's and 1980's, when it was eventually put into storage.

Notes: An attack/bomber designed in the mid-1940's, the A-26 Invader (later designated the B-26 after the B-26 Marauder was decommissioned) served up to the 1970's, including frequent use in the COIN role by both the Americans and the French in Southeast Asia and Africa. Civilian owners converted the A-26 to firefighting duty, aerial surveying, even executive transport (able to carry up to 14 passengers). SDP: 83 (Body 4)
SP: 16 (Armor 1)
Type: Small Jet
Mass: 6.6 tons
Cost: 1.17M eb (1,165,750eb base cost)
Equipment: Ejection seats, environmental control, fire extinguisher, 4 man-hours life support, military radio, auto-pilot with navigation system, military radar (detector), visual and radar rangefinders.
Weapons: One 2-space hardpoint under each wing in the training version, but an armament upgrade increases that to two 2-space hardpoints and two 1-space hardpoints under each wing, with a 12.7mm machine gun pod (200rnds) under the fuselage (+2625eb, +400eb ammunition).
Notes: First flown in the late 1950's, the Buckeye was adopted as the standard training jet by the U.S. Navy until the late 1990's. Phased out in favor of the T-45 Goshawk starting in the late 1980's, many T-2s have found their way into the developing world, as training and light attack aircraft. The plane is designed so no ladders or stands were needed for maintenance, and large hatches provided access to components. This made the Buckeye well suited for field maintenance under less-than-ideal conditions.

Plus one plane that's not real, but taken from another person's idea (see link at the end):

Militech Buzzard Multi-role COIN Airplane
Top Speed: 440 mph
Acc/Dec: 10/25
Crew: 2
Passengers: 6 passengers or 4 stretchers and 1 medic
Range: 1000 miles
Cargo: 5 tons (0) or (6) if no passengers
Maneuver: +0
SDP: 125 (Body 6)
SP: 25 (Armor 1)
Type: Medium Plane
Mass: 15.625 tons
Cost: 1.15 Meb (1,141,950eb base cost) + weapon and ammunition cost
Equipment: IR baffling, chaff and flare launchers, STOL/off-road capable, ejection seats for crew, military radio with scrambler/decoder, auto-pilot with navsystem, military radar detector, visual rangefinder, artillery computer with remote targeting, crash control harnesses for crew and passengers.
Weapons: Stabilized painting laser in articulated mount on the left wing tip. There are 1-space mounts fixed at the front of each tail boon (1.5-spaces ammunition each) and a 1-space mount fixed to either side beneath the nose (2-spaces ammunition each). Various weapon configurations have been fitted into these spaces, of which the most popular is one 20mm cannon (3 mags) on each tail boon and two 7.62mm machine guns (4 mags each) on each side of the nose (11,880eb + 3720eb ammunition). Other configurations include: one 12.7mm machine gun (6 mags) in each position (8800eb + 4800eb ammunition); one 30mm cannon (3 mags) on each tail boon and one 7.62mm machine guns (8 mags) on each side of the nose (11,440eb + 4320eb ammunition); two 7.62mm machine guns (6 mags each) in each position (10,560eb + 5760eb ammunition); and one 7.62mm minigun (2 mags) on each tail boon (8800eb + 32,000eb ammunition). Besides the fixed gun placements, there are five 2-space hardpoints on each of the wings and the bottom of the fuselage (30 spaces total), rarely completely filled and usually mounting bombs, rockets, a few ATGMs and a few AAMs.
Notes: The Buzzard is a unique design in this age of AVs and fighter jets, looking more like a design from the 1950's or '60's. "[It] is a high wing monoplane capable of landing on an unprepared field and with a cabin capable of carrying several passengers, stretchers or a useful cargo. A small combat team of paratroopers [is] able to jump from the aircraft without worry of static-line entanglement with props or tailfins. ... At each end of the cabin is mounted a piston/turboprop engine, one driving a pusher propeller, the other a tractor propeller, ... ducted to facilitate static-line parachute jumps. The tricycle undercarriage is retractable and the tail is supported by twin boons from the wing. [1]" While more expensive than many AVs or medium helicopters, the Buzzard is capable of fitting many roles and is easily repaired in the field, making it ideal for small forces in underdeveloped regions.
