Nice site.  I have an 88 Ext. cab short box (rusting) and have been looking into replacing the  box with a Nissan, Ford, or Mazda box.  I had also contemplated replacing my sides only (the bed is not rusted) with fiberglass but the cost is about the same.  I have not seen rust problems with the boxes on these other trucks but, bottom line, if it is fiberglass, it won't rust. Take care.
