Howdy Bluegrass Fans,*****CURRENT NEWS***** There have been some changes in the band recently. Brian and Lois have been performing in TH and also with their children, Cliff Randall and Mandy Garnette, in a family band for several years now. Due to Lois' recent health issue, we have had to narrow it down to just one band. We have enjoyed performing in both bands very much.....but what time can be spent playing music now, we feel, must be with the children at this time. You can find more information about Cliff Randall, Mandy Garnette and The Gelina Family at www.oocities.org/cliffrandall and www.oocities.org/blinnhill ******OLD NEWS****** We are proud to anounce that on October 7, 2001 at the 2001 DECMA Awards Show .....Traditional Heights received "Bluegrass Recording of the Year" for our "LIVE" cd. Brian Gelina also received Bluegrass Artist, Instrumentalist, Traditional Male Country Vocalist and Entertainer, and Soloist(2nd place). Brian Gelina and Cliff Randall and Mandy Garnette (Gelina) went on to Tennessee in March 2002 to compete once again in the 2002 NACMAI Competitions at The Louise Mandrell Theater and Brian Gelina received the "Most Promising" Instrumentalist Award. Cliff Randall and Mandy Garnette received "Junior Duo of The Year", Cliff - "Most Promising"(2nd place) Junior Male Traditional Country Vocalist and Mandy - "Future Star of The Year" Junior Female Traditional Country Vocalist... all within the Nation! Upon returning from the 2001 NACMAI (North America Country Music Association International) Competitions in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in March. The Gelina Family came home with 7 awards in bluegrass and country music! Lois Gelina received lst place for "Bluegrass Song Writer of The Year" for the song..."Love We Left Behind". Brian Gelina received "The Little Jimmy Dempsey Award" for most out-standing guitarist and "The Horizon" Award for Instrumentalist of The Year! Cliff Randall and Mandy Garnette brought home lst place in "Junior Traditional Country Duet of The Year" and Cliff was named "The Junior Male Traditional Country Vocalist of The Year 2001"! This was Mandy's first year of competition and she came home with "The Rising Star Award for Junior Female Traditional Country Vocalist"!! Way to Go Kids!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are both so proud of You Both!!! The 2000 DECMA (Downeast Country Music Association) Awards Show was held October 22, 2000 once again at The Roost in Buxton, Maine. Traditional Heights along with the entire Gelina family brought home 27 Awards!! Traditional Heights brought home 1st place for Vocal Group of The Year! 2nd place for Band of the Year. Lois Gelina won 2nd place as Songwriter for Bluegrass Song of The Year, and brought home awards in Female Gospel Vocalist and Bluegrass Artist catagories. Among those awards we are honored to say that Brian Gelina placed 1st in the following: Male Traditional Vocalist, Male Entertainer of the Year, Instrumentalist, Soloist and Songwriter for Country Song of The Year. And Brian received the "LENNY BREAU Award for Maine's Most Outstanding Guitarist. Brian and Lois's children, Cliff Randall and Mandy Garnette, did some winning of their own.....Cliff placed 1st in the Junior Male Vocalist, Jr Bluegrass Artist, Jr Gospel Male Vocalist catagories. Mandy placed 1st in the Junior Female Vocalist, 2nd in Junior Bluegrass Artist, and both Cliff Randall and Mandy Garnette won 1st in the Jr Vocal Duet catagory. The Gelinas came in 2nd place as Gospel Group of The Year. The 1999 DECMA (Down East Country Music Association) Awards Show was held October 24, 1999 at The Roost in Buxton, Maine. "Traditional Heights" and several of it's band members were among the recipients at the 1999 awards show: "Traditional Heights" received Bluegrass Recording of the Year for their debut cd "ON & ON". Brian Gelina received DECMA's 1999 Instrumentalist of the Year Award and also DECMA's 1999 Soloist of the Year award. Lois and Brian's son, Cliff Randall Gelina, also received two awards in the Junior Catagory....DECMA's 1999 Junior Bluegrass Artist of the Year and DECMA's 1999 Junior New Country Male Vocalist Award. Brian and Cliff competed in NH Feb 19-20 for the Regional Competitions and they BOTH came home as 1st Place WINNERS! Brian as Instrumentalist and Cliff as Junior Male Country Vocalist for the New England Region! Atta way to go boys! Brian and Cliff went to Tennessee March 7-12 to participate at the North America Country Music Association International in the National Competitions for Junior Bluegrass Vocalist and Instrumentalist, and came home 1st Place Winners!. Traditional Heights "ON & ON" debut cd was submitted to the North America Country Music Association International and came home with "The Bluegrass Recording of The Year" Award for 2000.
