This Howard County park has features that
appeal to the less experienced trail rider.
| Basic Conditions:
| Accessible trailer parking on a wide paved
lot with a turn around at the end
|
| A well marked trail with crossovers. This
ride takes us about 1.5 to 2.0 hours at a moderate pace with some crossovers and
retraces. Access trails (unmarked) lead to Patapsco State Park at the Avalon area.
|
| Well maintained trails with good footing -
mostly hard packed dirt, some carriage gravel, some sand. Areas of the trail will
remain mushy a day or two following a steady rain. Watch for tree roots on some
sections.
|
| Very underutilized during week days
|
|
| Potential Hazards:
| Several shallow stream crossings (with
foot bridge alternative)
|
| Two required wooden bridge crossings
|
| Hikers with dogs
|
| Mountain Bicycles
