These hikes/walks are selected to give you an orientation to the many wonderful parks and trails in the community and the surrounding area.  Enjoy getting some exercise and see nature in the beautiful outdoors.  See wildflowers, trees, birds, wildlife, etc. and learn some of the history of these areas.  This is also a great opportunity to meet new friends.

In general, our walks will be about 3 - 4 miles on mostly hard packed trails (some may be paved) of level to moderate grades at an easy pace.  The hikes will be about 4 - 6 miles at a moderate pace and sometimes involve hills that can be strenuous. Hiking shoes or boots are recommended for many of the hikes, but you may wear comfortable walking shoes for the easier walks.  Bring adequate water to drink, snacks, (sometimes we will take a lunch) and wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen as needed.

Transportation to the trailhead is by shared car pools from the Senior Center.  Please be prepared to take a turn driving if you can.  Passengers should contribute to the expense by paying the driver approx. 9-12 cents per mile.  Any entrance or parking fee should also be shared.  In addition, there is a $1.00 Senior Center activity fee for each walk or hike.

Please arrive at the Senior Center by 8:45 a.m.  Enter the Center to sign the registration and release of liability form.  Carpools will be formed and departure will be at 9:00 a.m.  Arrivals after car pools have been formed may require you to drive on your own. Carpools are voluntary and outside the auspices of the Senior Center.

Outings categorized as walks usually return to the Senior Center by noon or 1 p.m.  The hikes will be longer and may not return to the Senior Center until 1 or 2 p.m. dependent on the hike length.  Details of the walks or hikes will be sent by e-mail on request a couple days before the activity.  Those persons not on the weekly e-mail list may contact Ed Osada or the Senior Center for the information.  First timers need to contact Ed or Rich in advance.
