The Memoirs of Blake Savage is Canadian emcee, Choclair's sophomore album. It follows up a very successful debut, Ice Cold, which attained gold status in Canada.

The Memoirs of Blake Savage is thickly layered in Redman-esk funk and club-friendly beats. However, Choclair has changed since his 1999 debut. It doesn't take long to learn of his newfound affair with Miss Mary Jane, most blatantly evidenced on 'When I'm High.' As well, Choclair's suave ways with the ladies fall off in favor of purely physical intentions, most clearly demonstrated on '3Some' and 'Hot Marshmellows'.

The production is impressive, with contributions from Saukrates, Kardinal Offishall, Solitair and Ro Dolla, yet the album fails to produce true "mind-sticking" tracks. The lack of conscience substance behind Choclair's lyrical content causes Memoirs of Blake Savage to be without a true standout track. As a result, this average album will be of appeal if you prefer verses centered on drinking, smoking and sex smothered in funk-laden beats.
