The Training Day Soundtrack has got a whole lot to offer. In fact, it's the most stylistically diverse hip hop soundtrack that I've heard in a real long time.
This very impressive album features a hip hop sluggery of big-name artists and producers including Dr. Dre, Nelly, Cypress Hill, Xzibit, M.O.P., Pharoahe Monch, Gang Starr, The Neptunes, DJ Quik, P.Diddy, The Lox, Trick Daddy, C-Murder, Rockwilder, Battlecat, and many more.
Dr. Dre tightens his strangle hold on the game with the amazing 'Put It On Me'. His vacuum tight production is illuminated by smooth verses by himself and DJ Quik, while Mimi provides beautifully orchestrated R&B backup vocals. King Jacob & Professor put forth a highlight reel track with 'Let Us Go'. The track's "Cash Money combined with Fiesta (remix)" feel will make you a fan. 'Bounce, Rock, Golden State' features Golden State and Xzibit and is yet another tight Battlecat production. Ironically the track has the same bounce appeal exhibited on Xzibit's last album. There were so many great tracks on this soundtrack that I can't describe them all. These other impressive tracks include Pharoahe Monch's 'F**k You', P.Diddy's 'American Dream', Gang Starr's 'The Squeeze', Napalm's 'Crooked Cop', the DJ Mugg's produced 'Training Day (In My Hood)' by Roscoe.
Overall, this album was quite enjoyable. There were a few weaker tracks, but the tight tracks abounded. The Training Day Soundtrack has got it all: dope beats, tight rhymes, and best of all, diversity. If you're looking for a diverse taste of hip hop you can bop your head to, then the Training Day Soundtrack is worth checking out.
