What about 765?
FLASH--WORK HAS BEGUN!
Things are coming along slowly. The cab is stripped of all valves, tubing, throttle assembly,...well, everything. The sand dome is long removed. Things are moving slow, but they are moving forward! Speaking with a few of the members, one quickly senses that the pace will soon quicken. Excitement is once again starting to percolate at the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society. Projections are at this point looking towards 2003 as a completion time frame. While this may seem far off, it really isn't given the amount of work the 765 will undergo between now and then. The 765 will undergo a complete running gear rebuild. She'll be hoisted high into the air and the drivers will be rolled out from under her. They'll be shipped several states away and turned on rare, specialized machinery to re-true and restore the set back to running condition. While the drivers are away, the remaining bushings will be replaced with roller bearings. This alone should improve her appearance with the Class 1 railroads.
