Troop 14 News - What's New
January 28 -
We're just back from Cabin Camping at Quail Hill! A great intro to cold weather camping. Our first time as a troop there was fun, with lots of requirements done, we cooked some great hot food...and the cabin's wood stove kept everyone nice and warm!

May 3 - Congratulations to Michael and Andrew on their outstanding achievement at the MASOC #20 Scout Orienteering Competition! Ya done all your fellow scouts proud! Check out some photos here!

April 20
- We're back from an exciting trip to Camp Minsi! We did some fishing in the really beautiful lake - and caught fish, too! Enjoyed some great food, including a yummy dutch oven white cake and welcomed back our tradition of campfire programs with some awesome skits!

April 10
- Our special guests for this meeting were Senior Principal Fisheries Biologist Chris Smith from NJDEP/FGW and his assistant Eric.
We learned about the different fish we can catch while fishing, different kinds of tackle, baits & knots and how to use them! Chris and Eric even gave us some cool plastic baits, bobbers and some great fishing info... Thank you very much Chris and Eric! More photos are available on our website.

In appreciation of the ongoing support MUMC continues to provide to the troop, our scouts ran the after Worship coffee service at MUMC today! The scouts served snacks and drinks, helped setup and cleanup and presented Pastor Lew with a small donation from our troop in appreciation of great support shown by MUMC! Some photos can be found in the Photo Index of the Troop 14 website, or by clicking

Our Family Dinner and Spring Court of Honor was a smash! The food was terriffic and company great. It was a pleasure to have Pastor Lew and his wife Margie as our special guests. The ceremony was fun, videos entertaining and it was great to see how far our scouts have come since our last CoH! Special thanks to all for the delishious dishes we shared and to Ms. Blue for organizing the dinner. Photos from the CoH are now available on our website - just click here.

We had a special guest this evening - Special Agent Mart Schwartz, EPA National Use of Force Coordinator! And a special bonus - he brought his hi-tech marksmanship training/simulation system with him! Our scouts tested their mettle with an Army Marksmanship simulation and various other scenarios and games! Even some of the parents got into the act! A special thanks to Mr. Schwartz for an outstanding evening and Mr. Blue for his efforts in making this fun event happen!
May 12 - We're back from Citta Scout Reservation in Brookville. It was an exciting weekend as we tried our hands at the low and high elements of Citta's excellent C.O.P.E. course! Teamwork ruled the day and everyone had a blast! Special thanks to course director Ms. Brown and Tom for making this a trip to remember. Plus we made some excellent eats and enjoyed dutch oven brownies and popcorn at our Saturday evening campfire. And we even made it home in time for Mom's special day! Check out our many photos of this exciting trip here!
July 20 - The scouts of Troop 14 prepared and served breakfast for the families at Ronald McDonald House, near Cooper Hospital in Camden today. The scouts prepared pancakes, eggs and sausage, serving them with coffee, juice, danish and mini-muffins. A very special thank you to Ms. Mitchell for coordinating this worthwhile service to the community!
July 19 - Our 60th Anniversary Picnic and Reunion was a smashing success! Many former scouts, scoutmasters and their families attended and all had a great time! Mr. Kennedy donated a bag of patches that
will be organized in an album by our Troop Historian. Mr. Kisselbach's artwork patches were framed and presented to the troop. All had interesting memories and stories to tell about their time in Troop 14 and experiences in scouting! View the photos in our
index or by clicking here!
August 2 - We're back from an exciting week of summer camp at Camp Nobebosco in Blairstown, N.J.! It was a fun and productive week, with our 10 attending scouts earning 33 merit badges! To see our official camp photo, click here!
October 11 - Our backpacking trip at Harriman - Bear Mtn. State Park was unexpectantly cut short when one of our scouts sustained an ankle injury upon reaching the summit. We hiked back out and the scout was taken to Nyack Hospital for medical treatment. X-rays were negative and he was treated for a severely sprained ankle. Despite this, all our scouts did a great job - and the view from the summit was spectacular!
October 16 - We visited Burlington County Institute of Technology Medford Campus, where Mr. Micah Wenker taught us about the different kinds of engineers - and opened the Pre-Engineering lab for us! We all got to build a virtual bridge using West Point Bridge Designer Software (click HERE to visit their website and download the free program), plus we saw a real stress tester machine demonstrated. We had a fantastic time - thank you Mr. Wenker! For more info on BCIT's Pre-Engineering program, you can click HERE. Photos have been added to the troop web site as well. You can find them on the web site photo page, or by clicking HERE.
November 16 - We're back from our latest trip to Citta Scout Reservation! The weather put a damper on things - causing problems with both the flintlock and caplock muzzle loading rifles, but we were able to shoot .22 rifles at the range and still had a great time! Photos are available on the troop website photo index, or by clicking HERE!
March 7 - We're back from our latest trip to Resica Falls...snow tubing at Shawnee Mountain! A great time was had by all, including our special guests, Mr. K. and Tyler! We continue to be a busy troop, with our January trip to Quail Hill, plus special guests at our recent troop meetings. Ms. Rozecki came by and taught us about geocaching - a fun skill we will be testing out later this month. Special Agent Mart Schwartz returned with a great presentation on law enforcement, plus his ever popular marksmanship training system! A special thank you to both Ms. Rozecki and Special Agent Schwartz!
May 2 - We're just in from our Bluebird Box project at Indian Springs! We assembled and mounted birdhouses that will aid the course in earning its Audubon certification. Special thanks to Ms. Torres and Mr. Joe! And we have been busy as usual - our April trip to Camp Pouch and NYC was fantastic! We visited Ground Zero, NYSE, the Seaport Musueum, Nintendo World and more!!! We also held our spring Court of Honor in April...and March took us to Camp Winnebago to test our skills on their Geocaching course, along with some cold weather tent camping.  Troop 14 rocks!
August 16 - We're back from an exciting week of summer camp in Dublin, New Hampshire! Camp Wanocksett was worth the long drive, boasting a fun and exciting program, an OUTSTANDING staff and fabulous merit badge offerings! Scouts attending their 1st rate Brownsea program made great progress as well. Looks like this is one camp we will be returning to soon! Special thanks to Camp Director Dan Megan, Program Director Mike Penney and the entire Wanocksett staff!!! Photos are available on the troop website photo index.
