Patrol assignments are as follows: Flaming Arrow Patrol will help with setup. Eagle Patrol will help with refreshments Raptor and Monkey Patrols will help with cleanup. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The Troop could use some additional help from adult volunteers in the following areas: 1. Assistant Scoutmasters to help with the younger patrols. 2. Summer Camp Coordinator/Committee help plan and coordinate next years summer camp outing. This activity will need to begin very soon in order to secure a campsite. Waiting until next spring to find a camp to go to will be too late. 3. Newsletter Editor to help with the production and distribution of the Troop Chronicle. 4. Merit Badge Counselors help teach merit badges to the scouts. 5. Recharter Rep assist with recharter/re-registering of the scouts and adult leaders for the coming year. 6. Quartermaster storage of the Troops camping equipment. The equipment must be stored inside. 7. Board of Review Reps assist the Advancement Chair with the monthly Boards of Review for scouts advancing in rank. MONTHLY DUES Monthly dues are very important in helping the troop meet its financial needs. These dues are used to help defray the costs of Advancement and Merit Badges, postage, newsletter production, etc. More importantly, the dues should be earned and paid by each scout on a monthly basis. This not only helps the scout learn how to budget his income; it makes him more aware of his financial obligations and responsibilities. This concept is further reinforced as part of the Personal Management Merit Badge (Eagle required) and is an excellent way to help your scout earn this badge. The monthly dues are $5.00 per scout. Please check with the treasurer, Laura Ridl, 546-4942, to see where your scout stands with his dues. Special note: all dues will need to be caught up before a scout will be considered for rank advancement or before attending Summer Camp. - Editors Note - The Editor would like to remind all the members and non-members of Troop 461 if they have any suggestions or comments regarding the newsletter I would greatly appreciate receiving them. Please send your comments or suggestions to tridl1@earthlink.net. |
