Troop 759 Activities Coordinator’s Report
October, 2008
Updated 10-20-08
Upcoming Events:
October 24-26 - Webelos-O-Ree – Broad Creek –The event will be held at camp Saffran. We are running the archery range. Pack 360 has boys and adults camping with us. We will review archery range safety and range commands at the upcoming meeting.
November 7-9 - Historic Trails Camp & Hike – I just realized that we probably don’t want to go hiking in ay remote areas during hunting season. We may want to consider a day hike on the Capital Crescent Trail (Silver Spring to Georgetown) or the Baltimore-Annapolis Trail, or we can dredge up the Great Falls backpacking trip we did a couple of years ago. We need an adult to lead this event and do some specific planning to develop a detailed plan. We can also move this to November 14-16 if it the timing is better. Since the beach trip was canceled, it would be nice of we could schedule one night of overnight camping, although this is not essential.
December 6-7 - Overnighter on the Coast Guard Cutter Taney – this is an overnight event on the Taney in the Inner Harbor. The cost is $35 per person. This is a historically significant date (Sunday morning, December 7) on the last floating ship that was anchored at Pearl Harbor in 1941.
December 16 (NEW DATE)- Holiday Party at Hebron House. Note the date was changed due to the cancellation of the December 23 and 30 troop meetings.
Other Items of Note:
Archery Practice – The Franciscan Friars Monastery will allow us to set up an archery range on their site. We can set up some dates before it gets too cold if the troop wants the practice time.
Are we going to sponsor a family again this Christmas season?
The Ski Trip has been moved back to MLK weekend Jan. 16-19, 2009.
