What to Bring to the Klondike Competition in a backpack:
~ Spare pair of warm socks
~ Spare pair of mittens or gloves
~ Compass
~ Cup
~ Spoon
~ Lunch - consisting of your favorite sandwich or two, a drink, hi-energy snacks and/or fruit.
Remember that you must pack out what you pack in. There are no trash barrels on the Klondike Trail! You will be fed a hot soup (this year it's Rahmen Chicken noodle soup) from your troop.
~ A can of soup (not a cream soup, chowder, bisque or any "add milk" soup) to be added to a community  pot called Hobo Soup. The best "community pot soups" are canned chicken noodle or rice soup, minestrone, italian wedding soup, vegetable soups, etc.
NO HOMEMADE SOUPS due to health regulations.
~ Pencil and paper
~ 32 oz bottled water ~  and hand and foot warmers are always a good idea, too!

What to wear:
~ Warm insulated boots
~ Wool or "wicking" socks
~ Wool or fleece hat; plus your choice of neck warmer - scarf, facemask, balaclava, gaiter, etc.
~ Warm, thick mittens
~ At least 3 Clothing layers for both top and bottom:
Top   ~ Thermal underwear or long sleeved T-shirt
An insulating layer -long sleeved shirt like a sweatshirt, with your Lumberjack Troop shirt over it
Heavy winter coat or another sweatshirt, with a wind/waterproof shell
Bottom  ~ thermal long johns
Insulating layer like fleece or sweatpants
outside layer like snowpants, skiwear or wind/waterproof shell
We don't recommend jeans as they do not insulate nor protect from wind or melted show.

Also, bring your great attitude and team togetherness. Remember the original Klondike Race would never have been successful if the dog team was always fighting among themselves or tormenting each other.
