"Oh, I hope Nicky is OK." Valerie said as she watched Melissa walk down the hall towards his room. "He will be." Brian assured her as he put his arm around her. Wiping the tear from her eye, Valerie sat down inthe waiting room
"He's a strong guy. He'll get through it." Brian said sitting next to her. "Oh, God please....for Melly's sake." Valerie said praying. Brian squeezed her arm a little.
Just then the doctor came back. "Nick asked to see you." Dr. Kanal said to Val. "Me?" Valerie asked not understanding why Nick wouldn't want to see his
best friend. "He specifically said Valley. I assume that is you?" Dr. Kanal
said. "Uh, yeah it is." Val said to Dr. Kanal. "I'll find out what's going on."
She said to Brian before giving him a kiss. Brian nodded. Valerie walked with Dr. Kanal down the hall until they reached Nick's room. Dr. Kanal ushered Valerie into the hospital room. "Oh, Hi Val!" Nick said as she appeared in the room. "Hey, Nick. How you feeling?"Valerie asked. "Just fine now that my friends are here." Nick replied looking back and forth between Val and Melissa. "Um, aren't you forgetting about Brian?" Valerie asked. "Who?" Nick said looking curiously. Valerie turned to face Dr. Kanal. "He is suffering from a little bit of amnesia. He doesn't remember who Brian is." Dr. Kanal said softly to Valerie. "Um, I'll be right back." Valerie said leaving the room. "My God. He really doesn't remember Brian." Valerie thought to herself walking back to the waiting room where Brian was waiting. "So is he OK?" Brian asked breaking her thought. "Um, physically or mentally?" Valerie answered his question with a question. "Well, both of course." Brian said. "He's fine. Except for...." Valerie paused. "For what?" Brian filled in. "He's got a little amnesia." Valerie said softly. "So what? He doesn't remember his name or his job or something like that?" Brian asked looking into Valerie's sympathetic eyes. "Kinda. He remembers that he is Nick. He knows he's a singer....he just doesn't remember......you." Valerie said hesitantly. "You're playin' right?" Brian asked hopefully. Valerie just shook her head. "Maybe if I go see him, it'll trigger something'" Brian said looking down the hall. "You could try it. But..." Before she could say anything else, Brian was already halfway to Nick's room. Quietly Valerie followed him into the room where
Nick lay. "Hey buddy." Brian said as he entered the room. "Who's that?" Nick whispered to Melly. "This is, uh, this is Brian." Melissa told him. "And Brian is....?" Nick waited for Melly to finish his sentence. "Brian would be one of
the guys that you sing with. He's also your best friend." Melissa tried
to refresh his memory. "Oh. I don't remember him." Nick said taking a drink of water. "It's OK." Melissa said. "Let's watch some TV." Nick insisted, grabbing the
remote. "Sure." Everyone agreed. "Oh, the News. Maybe that'll help me remember." Nick said setting the remote back down.
~~ON THE NEWS~~
"In music news, earlier today Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was rushed to the hospital due to injuries in a car accident. Supposedly a man in his twenties hit him because he held a personal grudge about a woman they were both interested in. The name of the man is not being released but the woman is Melissa Stanford. And that's all for music news today."
"Well, that didn't help." Nick said turning off the TV. "Hey guys." Ethan said as he walked into the room. "I wanted to see how you are doing." He continued to walk over to Nick. "I'm OK. I just can't figure out who this guy is." Nick said
pointing to Brian. "Maybe this will help." Ethan handed Nick a magazine with pictures of the Boys all-together. "Oh, it says that you are the joker of the group, and that you are called, B-Rok." Nick said reading the article. "That's right." Brian confirmed. "So, why do you want to be a 'rock'?" Nick asked. Valerie and Melissa just laughed. "Now you're sounding like AJ as Johnny." Melissa said. "Hey, is he still doing that tour?" Nick asked looking at the girls. "Yeah." Valerie answered. "He remembers AJ's multiple personalities but not me?" Brian said lashing out. "Settle down." Valerie went over to Brian. "Listen, he just
needs time to recover. He'll remember you." Valerie said kissing Brian. "And you two are going out." Nick said pointing at Brian and Val. "Yeah." Melly confirmed. "OK, it's becoming clearer. I remember that Valley was going out with someone, but I still don't remember who." Nick said rubbing his head. "It's been Brian almost as long as you've known me." Valerie said. "Maybe if you sing something that'll help him." Melly suggested to Brian. "It's worth a try." Nick said sitting up a little. "OK, um, I can see that you've been crying...." Brian sang the beginning of 'More Than That'. "Hey man!" Nick yelled. "I know you!" He finished. "Alright Nick!" The others congratulated him. "Is there anything else that you forgot?" Melissa asked kissing him. "I don't think so." Nick responded taking another drink of water. "So Doc, when can I go home?" Nick asked. "As soon as you feel up to it." Dr. Kanal said cheerfully. "Then why am I sitting here? Let's go!" Nick said getting up. Everyone agreed, the best thing for him would be to go home.
