"Well, you see there was a problem down at thestation. I'm afraid that you two," He pointed to Brian and Val, "Will have to come with me down tothe station." Almost out of control, Melissa screamed, "WHY! What for! They didn't do anything!" "Calm down miss. You're exactly right. They failed to tell...." The officer took off his hat and Val started to laugh, "me that they were in town!" Nick had no clue what was going on, Melly was still slightly confused, Brian joined the laughter and Val who was now hugging the officer. "HOLD UP! What is this all about?" Nick asked breaking up Val's hug. "Nick, this is Steven. He's my brother." Val laughed. "I never knew you had a brother." Nick said. "And I never knew you only wear one sock." Val laughed againpointing to Nick's foot. "Oops!" Nick laughed and then went to the couch to put on his other sock. "Hey guys, is it allright if Steve joins us for breakfast?" Bri asked everyone. "That'd be great." Everyone agreed. Moments later everyone was ready to go and the headed out the door. "Heya Steven," Val caught up with him, "Do you know anything about the Ethan Dwiggins case down at the station?" "Yeah, I'veheard a little about it, why?" Steve asked. "He's charged with attempted murder, right?" Valasked. "That and aggravated assault." Steve added. "I didn't know that. Well I'm the eye-witness and Brian is the one that he tried to kill." Val told him. "You serious?" he asked."Yeah, when is the trial?" Val answered. "A couple of weeks. Aren't you the lucky one?" Steve said with a small chuckle. "Why am I so lucky?" Val asked him. "Well, I've been assigned to his cell." Steve kept laughing. "You're gonna help us out right?" "Of course! What are siblings for?" Steve laughed as they reached the elevator."What's up with this anyway?" Steve grabbed Val's hand. "Don't get out of control. I'm not engaged, I'm not married and I'm not going to be either." "Oh, I meant this tattoo! When did you get it?"Steve hadn't even noticed the ring. He was referring to the bracelet tattoo around Val's wrist. "A couple of months ago when we were in New York." Val answered. "I just never saw you as the tattoo sort of girl that's all." Steve said as the elevator door opened and everyone filed out of it. "We've been apart for too long, you don't know me that well anymore." Val laughed. "Enough of the chit-chat. Where are we going for breakfast? I'm hungry!" Nick said. "Know any good places?" Melissa asked Steve. "There are alot. It depends on what you want." He answered. "How about this place?" Bri pointed to a cafe in the brochure he was reading. "Sounds good to me!"Nick said walking outside to hail a cab. "Alright let's go!" Melly agreed.
~Ethan's Thoughts As He Sits In Jail~
"I'll get cleared. They have nothing against me. Sure, Val was there, but after Jason gets through with her she wouldn't dare testify against me. Or at least she wouldn't if she knew what was good for her and her precious little boyfriend, Brian."
~Jason's Thoughts~
"I want to help Ethan get cleared because he's my best friend, but then again, I don't want Valerie to get hurt. How can I help Ethan and still win Valerie's love. Will it take betraying one of them and making it up or betraying both?"
~Back At Breakfast With Brian, Val, Nick,Melissa, and Steve~
"So Steve.... is there anything that we don'tknow about Val?" Nick asked. "Hey now. I came here to get catch up with my sister not tell you guys all her secrets." Steve said quickly before Val came back from the bathroom. "Aww, that's too bad." Nick said as Val approached their table."What's too bad?" Val asked joining the conversation. "Um, that we'll only be in town fora little while." Nick said changing the subject with a sigh. "I know that look Ste. What were you telling them?" Val playfully hit her brother on the shoulder. "Nothing. I didn't say anything."Steve winked towards Nick. "Hey now!" Melly jumped in. "Don't you dare tell anything. I might've been involved in some of those stories." She added. "Yeah me too. None of that!" Bri jumped in. "Alright fine." Nick ended the convo."So what are we gonna eat?" Nick changed the subject again. "I dunno." Melly said looking at her menu. "Val hide." Melly ducked behind her menu. "Why? What?" Val asked looking around. "Trust me." Melly said eyeing the doorway. "Ok ok. But what is it?" "Well, looky who got out of jail!" Melly whispered pointing to the door where Jason stood. "Not today. Please." Val whispered to herself. "Heya Steve. Help me out. That's the other guy that was with Ethan at the bridge. Do you know how he got out?" Val asked. "Nope. Just cause I'm a cop doesn't mean I know everything. He must've gotten out right after I got off duty." Steve said staring Jason down. "Crap." Brian said noticing him. "Fuck" Nick said. "Oh Shit." Val whispered. "Let's just get the hell outta here." Melly added in as the five of them stood up and tried to sneak past Jason. "Oh Hello there Valerie." Jason saw them. "Hey Jas. Bye Jas." Brian said quickly escorting Val out the door. "Not so fast. I want to talk to Valhere." Jason said grabbing Val's hand to stop her from going out the door. "It's alright Bri. I'll meet you outside." Val said giving Brian a kiss.
"Alright Baby. If you're sure." Bri said returning the kiss. "I'm sure." Val winked. "So what was it that you wanted to talk to me about Jason?" Val asked him after Nick, Melissa and Brian were out the door. "I wanted to talk toyou about us." Jason said 'sincerely'. "There is no us Jason. There never was, and there never will be." Val told him firmly. "But there couldbe......" Jason started. "No there couldn't be."Val said crossing her arms obviously, so Jason could see the ring on her left hand. "What is this?!" Jason blurted out grabbing Val's hand again. "Well obviously it's a ring, that happens to be placed on my left ring finger......." Val paused as she took off the ring. "Oh and look at this! The inscription says ~~BTL & VAL forever and always~~ hmmm.... I wonder what that could mean.... could it be......" Val was cut off by Steve saying "It means that you are nothing but a worthless piece of trash that should leave my little sister alone before I arrest you for stalking her." "Yes, Steve... that's exactly what it means." Val said putting the ring back on her finger and turning to walk away. "How dare you walk awayfrom me like that!" Jason screamed as he grabbed Val's arm and pulled her back. "I wasn't through talking to you........" Jason added trailing off.
